You know...as bad as this pandemic thing is, the behavior of people, like the example you posted, make this exponentially worse.

If people could just show a modicum of decency and consideration towards one another, we could get each other through this.

But, the profound socio-pathy that some people exhibit in times like this is mind-numbing.

Getting myself back to your original post, Kerry....don't be scared.

As I've said before, fear paralyzes. Awareness empowers.

Be aware and be vigilant.

Take precautions, as any person, who is aware and who is vigilant, would do:

1. Limit your exposure. Today's term is "social distancing". But, you get the point.

2. Keep your hands and surroundings clean. Hundreds of times a day, if not thousands, we subconsciously use our hands, like little end-loaders, to transport bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens towards the only access into our bodies - the nose, the mouth, and the eyes...perhaps the ears.

In a way, we are in the best position to handle this, as a society. Kerry, you are in Canada. I'm in Maryland, USA. Our mutual communication on this forum (HUGE kudos to @WavMixer ), helps us do the right thing....stay indoors and let the right people do their jobs.
 
So today was trash day at the new place. In Anaheim, where I used to live, we had these big 100 gal plastic ones on wheels that the garbage truck would pickup with an arm and dump it in the truck. Here at the new place we are back in the 60's with small 32 gal cans (they're called "barrels") that a guy gets out of the truck to manually pickup and dump it in the truck.

So I'm thinking, this guy has probably touched 50 to 100 cans, with gloves I assume, and then he's touching mine. Hmmm. I put on a set of plastic disposable gloves to go retrieve the barrels. I then take those gloves off and put a new set on with a wad of soapy paper towels and proceed to wipe the lids and handles. Ya just never know.

I lived in my last house for 15 years and NEVER washed a trash can.
 
The Brevard side of FloriDuh all beach parking is blocked, cops on the beach and helicopter going up and down the 80 mile long county, about 50 yards off the beach! The only other time that happens is when they have a launch at the Cape. So far only 12 cases in the county, if that means anything at all. Now Clearwater Beach, where I used to live, the politicians caved and let the tourist trap beach area OPEN all weekend till Monday! Of course shoulder to shoulder for a week and a half till they closed it! I'm glad I moved since I feel they chose $$$$ over people's lives!~ All I can think is that there are some cold, cold people out there in pretty high positions

There are still those out there that just don't get it. The World is in a tail spin. I am not trying to cause fear, but in reality things are not looking positive, many people are not taking this thing far enough to stomp this thing out. Should be more restrictions on movement, heavy fines or jail for those who don't conform to rules and regulations,Etc.
 
We had so many imbeciles come down here last weekend and crowd the beach and walkways that the city has now had to close the beach for the weekend this week. This is willful flaunting of the safety rules and is going to be the reason this thing takes longer to resolve than necessary.
 
I started comments of what I thought the group demographic mainly consisted of, but choose to refrain as it would appear to lean political.

I'll leave it as probably mostly young folks / spring breakers as most dont take things seriously until they mature a bit more.

I was that way to a degree, but never experienced social restrictions, curfews, etc. like this before.
Probably not since WWII I am guessing.

You would almost hope that would be the case and one could chalk it up to the exuberance of youth, but sadly it was exactly the same cross-section of people I see streaming by on any Spring/Summer day with nice weather. Lots of families with small children and groups of middle-aged people who know better.
