I saw this on sale (still not cheap), and for some strange reason really wanted it.
I'really dislike gaudy gold hardware, and I have had 3 Squire strats which I disliked...
Just seems to be a lovely spec, best of the 50s and every era since. Sounds great too in the clips. Since I got a cab and a 5w head, I like playing on the 5w setting with some early breakup, but it's just that bit too loud for home use with the SGs (both of which I've now sold), so I was using the tele-thing-fugly-bastard that tried to kill me in neck position with the lil 59 humbucker split - sounds really nice at the volumes I can use at home (I probably shouldn't have taken the single coil out, but the lower output 59 bucker - yes, you read that right - sounds sweet when split. So, for the first time in years, I'm starting to get into the basic single coil sounds; they can rock (I think I forgot that somewhere along the line...).
But, at US$1300 it's the price of a new 2017 cherryburst SG standard; very hard to justify. &, I've been eyeing a local 2017 cherryburst up, watching the price drop from $1400 down to $1150...
Spotted this Fender Mexico Deluxe Series Deluxe Players Strat at US$900 (still not cheap), and thought if it had a splitable bucker in the bridge it could be really cool; kinda like this:
But, for some insane reason, I am wanting some more gold, some bling, some 50s bling!
So, I was playing around on the net, looking at sexy guitars, pushing buttons on the site I was logged into (not being able to read Korean, it was all Chinese to me, or double Dutch), and I got a message on my phone which might indicate that I bought something. I have bought from this website before (turned up in great time and perfectly set up), so if something turns up at my door on Monday or Tuesday then I would have bought something.
I'll add it to the thread if and when it arrives. &, yes, there is gold!
