Who's into Orange amps

I am seriously considering getting the Mesa Rectoverb 25. I would really like to have separate eq for the clean and dirty channels. Other than that this lil amp does SCREAM.

I have a Mini Rectifier, so same amp minus reverb (and I don't use reverb so no loss to me). It is a monster. I've owned 50-watt amps that couldn't keep up with it (I'm looking at you Marshall), and it is incredibly versatile; not just one of the most iconic hard rock sounds ever but an outrageously good clean channel that also doubles as a great crunch. Cannot recommend them enough, and of course since its a Mesa its going to be the best-built thing out there. Do it.

New member here! Yes, I'm an Orange fan and my setup for using my Strats as well as my Les Pauls is a Dark Terror with the PPC112 cab. I'm really satisfied with this setup with my Lester’s, but just getting familiar when using a Strat. So far, just a TC HOF reverb pedal in the mix, but may add a boost later, if needed. I just prefer Orange's “take” on gain; that's why I chose Orange. The V30 now broken in can achieve a variety of sounds with this amp. I have yet to figure what amp gain setting benefits my particular Strat....that needs to be sorted out, yet.

Welcome brother. You'll like it here. It is mellow and all these folks are a wonderful delight. By the way, I also love the Dark Terror. Someday I will land one.

Thanks. The DT is my first rube amp in many years and some well-spent moments researching before my purchase. The early hours and days were spent playing my 2 Les Pauls into it. I'm not a Metal player and more of a Classic Rock player. I also delve into other genres of music and my initial concern was whether a Dark Terror would be versatile enough to cover the types I'm interested in.

Most players get the Dark Terror for the extent of its gain design. I've discovered what some have already discovered and that is the great complex chime going on. A Les Paul gets that and now I'm busy trying to find it with my 2 Strats......a very rewarding exercise for me.

I don’t want to derail this thread too much, but would you say, then, that getting a Mini Rec is just as good if someone (like me) already uses a reverb pedal in the loop and is fine with it? I’ve been eyeballing the Rectoverb 25, but would consider the Mini Rec if it is just as good in all other respects.

I liked the OR15 I had but still prefer a JCM2000 DSL50 Green Channel. I came real close to buying one a couple weeks ago but I chose to get the new Rims & Tires for my Trans Am as that was more and I don't usually have that much disposable cash at once :p

I wish I had a Mini Recto... I played my Dual Rec directly after playing through the TT, both through the same Marshall 4X12. The other guitar player at rehearsal had his Peavey Classic 50 cranked up a bit, I’m sure accidentally, and refused to turn it down. I was barely able to keep up using the TT, as he was obliterating everything, from drummer...through bass...and vocals.... So my response was the Dual Rec.
Completely different animals. Both had their merits, but the Dual Rec was far more versatile.
If the Mini Recto pre-amp channels are anything like the Dual Rec, I’d be really happy to play through it....anytime. The controls are very interactive, and a bit complicated to get used to, but they can dial in a plethora of different tones once you get the hang of them.
The Orange was a bit more receptive to guitar volume adjustments, but the tone was overall...sort of...that “one trick”. It’s a great trick though...

I have looked on REVERB at the used gear and found better prices for the Rectoverb 25 than I did the Mini Rect. I am like you I have a great reverb pedal already, but if I can save $100 or so then that will trump things. The 2 are suppose to be the same except the Mini does not have reverb and is only a head unit I believe.

It's exactly the same amp, minus reverb. I don't like reverb, therefore don't use it, so this was an easy decision for me. Plus, some of the early Mini's have the ability to switch the effects loop out, so I found one of them with low miles and got it at a bargain. Some of the best money I have ever spent on gear to be honest. I owned a 50-watt Recto solo head for a while and the Mini really sounds exactly like the full-size head. It's just as loud too but has a lot less headroom, which frankly I don't care about either.
