Renewed Faith in Gibson:

I got a 2015 DT SG complete tone garbage. In my 48 years of playing guitar I have found very few guitars that bite back as I call it that inspire me. Or to say that once I start playing it hours go by
Like a time warp. For those that are into Jimi Hendrix read this on his Marshall amps Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp - Metropoulos Forum
I own one of the 1967 Marshall Super tremolo amps that was modified like Jimmi's. I'm in the posses of restoring it now.

LOVE IT!

SG Faded Special - I love this guitar; 490R in the neck and a soon to be introduced/soundclips Angus Young in the bridge.

This is a short clip of my 2016 Gibson SG with its original PCB and played on the bridge 490T through a Marshall DSL40C with just a DD-3 delay.

In contrast, here is the guitar after removing the 500k Gibson PCB and Gibson 490's and installing a vintage harness, 50's style with 500k Bourne pots, K40Y tone capacitors .033uf bridge/ .015uf neck and GFS Classic II Alinco II PAF clones 7.93k bridge and 7.88k neck with identical amp settings...gain is maxed on both videos.

The tone is richer with less of an edge...a more natural tone.

The Gibson Artist Relations Representative advised I can pick the guitar up from the retailer in Beverly Hills on Thursday.

Ok,

So I wasn't able to break away and make the trip to Beverly Hills today. Maybe tomorrow will be better??? So, while I am very optimistic this 2016 50's Tribute Les Paul will be everything I hope it will be, I also plan to inspect it most objectively and I won't keep it unless it is 100% to my satisfaction. If not, I am not going to write any hostile tirade, just measurements and observations.

However, I have already decided that if, for any reason, this 50's Tribute Les Paul doesn't work out for me, I am going to build a Warmoth 24-3/4" scale neck for my 1987 Squirecaster and be happy....

Go to your Guitar Sinner and play and find one you like. You should be well versed in Gibson 101 by now Robert :) I hope this new Goldtop works out for ya.
