Old dudes are asleep...

When I worked for a building materials distributor, an older cable boom truck was sold to a local masonry supplier.
A short time later, the driver got the boom fouled in power lines while standing on the steel bed.

A few of the guys at our place knew him.
Witnesses say it was particularly horrific.
RIP.

I think of that now and then as it relates to safety while building / working on tube amps.

I had to recreate an accident scene with the same scenario.

Eyewitness stated that his shoes were in flames, I think of that when playing around with my amps.

My dad worked for PRR/Amtrak in C&S department. They maintained the high tension lines. Co-worker touched a bridge by mistake..he cooked instantly & was smoking.

HEY BROS. Chas and Fred!!!!!

In some parts, 47 and 51 is downright balmy. I know I feel pretty comfortable down to about 40-45. Slight chilled down to 32, and BRRRR anywhere in 20's on down to 0

I bet 67plexi can tell us about some cooooool temps up there near Ketchikan.

JT, hey similar story here.

I have a friend who used to own a rental home in my old neighborhood. Her brother in turn rented a little garage from another lady, I am pretty sure the garage owner's brother who I met once, also met his end from either a man lift incident or crane incident when he contacted power lines.

We had had a power outage a number of years later up in my house about 45 minutes away from where he lived. The electric co, was working up at our intersection and the tech was in his bucket truck snaked among the tree branches. I had walked up to see what was happening and spoke to a lady motorist who had stopped before going around the scene. I mentioned to her how careful that service man must have to be, as recently before that, the tree trimming guys working for the Electric company had been around our lines, and their supervisor had told me of a recent loss of a co-worker from shock with wires. This is when she and I discovered that she also knew the man that I knew as we both shared the same story of his passing from the man lift incident.
