I guess "old" is relative.
I never figured I'd make it to 65 or beyond. Of course, when I was 18 I used to tell people I wouldn't make it to 30.
Recently having stopped smoking, and even drinking so much, (almost a month now completely sober) I might actually have a chance, and I'd be happy to be around for my kids as long as possible.
I've been considering using this injury as if it were a great big "reset" button...there's been some lifestyle changes that I've needed to make for some time now, and this presents almost the perfect opportunity to make it happen. Some things, like quitting smoking, have already happened. And since I'll be down for a while, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't continue to make changes for the better.
A year from today, I'd like to be better and stronger than I was before I broke my leg, and I think it's totally within the realm of possibility, and well worth the effort too.
