Help! I Need To Get Fuzzy….

Hooray! I’ve got tracking on the “Hail Satan Deluxe”!!! No ETA as of yet, but the excitement is palpable! Well…I’m kinda stoked anyway…. I’m hoping this fills the spot I’m looking to fill. I’m very happy with the others…the Fuzz War, and the Gypsy Fuzz are good components, so far. The Red Llama is working great as a boost(like a TS-9 in front…but a different flavor). We shall see…
I want to get one just from the name alone.

Well….it has finally arrived!!! I just wailed away on everything for a while…and……I like it. I like it a lot!!!
The dry mix is excellent! The boost is kinda brutal. There’s no light up demon eyes though. But man will the Hail Satan Deluxe chug out some Sabbath “Children of the Grave”, tuned to drop C! Good stuff!
Seriously though, it is quite a versatile muff variant, and will cover a lot of ground. I think it’s gonna shine on bass too…like…really…
I played a bunch of stuff through it tonight…from Hendrix-ish to Sabbath to Soundgarden to Tool to Rush, and on through a bunch of original stuff. It is very reminiscent of my home-brew muff, but with a bit more tonal flexibility and some useful extras(dry mix and onboard boost/extra gain stage). So far….it is a keeper!
Heres a crappy tablet shot of the board, as it stands, tonight…

Next up…I look forward to removing the ginormous Flashback X4, in favor of a delay/reverb/boost from Abominable…in a box about the size of the Hail Satan Deluxe. It’ll give me room fo some other things:rolf: ;) :dood::cheers:

I‘ll see if I can put a decent clip or two together soon!

Alright then….
It’s been a couple of days, and I’ve been enjoying this board immensely, with my guitars.…Until around an hour ago, when I finally fired up the 68 Blue Sparkle Kustom K200-A through the, Weber loaded, matching 2X15 cab. I hit it with my Washburn RB2000 active bass. I blew right through that hour, with pleasure. The Hail Satan Deluxe does that “wet/dry” mix thing really well, and it is immense sounding. The Fuzz War is right there too, but doesn’t have the “wet/dry” mix feature. It can be dialed in to cover a lot of ground though. The tiny Phase 95 sounds great with bass, and the Cry Baby Jr is surprisingly useful too!

I am tempted to keep this board feeding through an A/B box, for easy/lazy switching between guitar and bass, but who knows. It is certainly shaping up to function as I had originally wanted. It does provide a variety of fuzz styles, just a couple of toe taps away, and covers a lot of ground in the areas of my particular interests.

I haven’t forgotten about the “clips” thing. Tomorrow is supposed to be a crap weather day, and if I don’t do anything too stupid to cause me to be out and about for too much of the day, I should be able to get some studio time in.
I’ll try to hit record at some point. :dood:

So…I don’t do this very often, but I’m gonna do it now….

I‘m feelin’ the need for something new (to me) in the family of fuzz tonez. There’s no aversion here to “rolling my own” either.
(See THIS EXCELLENT THREAD to understand the meaning there…their fuzz kits are HERE )

Anyway, I’ve become enamored with down tuning for some sludgy stoner stuff again lately, and I find myself wondering if I would enjoy a different fuzz variant, apart from the Octavia, and the different muffs I've built over the years. I’m feeling open to suggestions…that Game Of Tonez challenge had me looking at the Way Huge Swollen Pickle variants(I mean, they have an actual “Dirty Donny” model :rolf:  ), and finding myself curious about what else I could be missing in this quandary…

So I ask you wonderful people….Do you have any suggestions for thick & gooey fuzz pedals? To build(kits), or buy, it doesn’t matter…I don’t fear the iron! But tell me why too….please.
I really dig the DOD Carcosa Fuzz it is a nasty lil bugger

Love me some fuzz, I have recently came to the realization I can not stand the BC108c. I have tried the Fulltone & I just got a Chasetone Fuzz Fella for a 2nd time to give the B108c another shot. I got an Ear Fuzz Toad Venom for a Fuzz Face (early breadboard model/battery only) and it IMO hangs with the 4 Ge Sun Faces I had. And I love the low gain GE germanium Sun Faces. The Toad Venom has both Si/Ge.

Some others I have really liked.
Fulltone Mas Malo / Soul Bender
JDM Elektrika
Blammo! Zonch Machine
Wren & Cuff Forest For The Trees

this is my favorite muff though so far... Black Arts Pharaoh. I have tried all 3 versions, Son OF Pharaoh & Sarcophagus (Pharaoh & LSTR). If you like that Fuzz War you have to try a Pharaoh IMO.

Wow! Thanks! I’ve read, and heard, good things about the Pharoh. I can’t believe it slipped my mind…
Yeah, I’m digging the few I’ve amassed so far. When I plugged a bass into the board, the Fuzz War, and Hail Satan Deluxe delivered exactly what I had hoped for from them.

I bought this one but as you seen I built a new pedalboard so it's back up to my Cioks. Figured it would power those 4 pedals easily with the Cathedral as the only one needing a higher mv.
