Help! I Need To Get Fuzzy….

Hahaha! Thanks! Yeah, I was saying to them, “I won’t be able to mellow out until I play through the Fuzz War at a sustained level of at least 109Db”. They had no idea that I was serious. ;)
 
I came into the studio today, and decided to take another listen to the assortment of “push pedals” I’ve been toying around with. This is just a quick run with the Fuzz War, then pushed by the Red Llama homebrew (at about 1:06)…I’m liking the tone shape and hair it’s bringing. The sound is kinda ratty. I just picked up and played, really. I started with the TS, and it was acting up again…guess I’ll be replacing that switch. Then on to the Treble Booster. That wasn’t doing anything for me with the fuzz today. Then I plugged in the Red Llama, and was digging that, so I draped a couple of mic’s, and set up the cell phone…

So…yeah…I’m only sitting, with a single coil guitar, about eighteen inches away from this. You can hear, and see, the gate engage before I completely finish rolling the volume down slowly. It’s fairly smooth, but it gets some artifacting with the super hairy fuzz sometimes.

Sounds like some Electric Wizard in the thick fuzz department! Very cool

And I love the control labels on the amp lol

Thanks! Yeah…looks like I pumped up the hair when I brought down the loud the other night…that may be why I wasn’t feeling the treble booster today…I usually keep the hair around 1:30. It’s dark in that little corner.
I guess I’m going for that type of sound…kinda like Holy Mountain from Sleep…maybe a little.

…Added the tiny “Phase 95” pedal tonight…I’m about to outgrow the power supply with the next “real” pedal. I wouldn’t mind adding a chorus…but my Vibe is staying on the “big board”. The next fuzz is on the horizon(being built), and I have a single loop switcher on the way…for shutting off the after affects,and turning them on.

Anyway, I’ve become enamored with down tuning for some sludgy stoner stuff again lately, and I find myself wondering if I would enjoy a different fuzz variant, apart from the Octavia, and the different muffs I've built over the years. I’m feeling open to suggestions…that Game Of Tonez challenge had me looking at the Way Huge Swollen Pickle variants(I mean, they have an actual “Dirty Donny” model :rolf: :facepalm: ), and finding myself curious about what else I could be missing in this quandary…

So I ask you wonderful people….Do you have any suggestions for thick & gooey fuzz pedals? To build(kits), or buy, it doesn’t matter…I don’t fear the iron! But tell me why too….please.

I bet IvanH could whip you up some Fuzz Build ideas., Bdon.

I sure like how he thinks electronics wise. He taught me immeasurably.
AmpMad may also have ideas.

Me, on the other hand am useless when it comes to rolling my own.

Also, I still can't get used to this place without several AWOL members. ESgee and RVA to be precise. Oh and sadly my friend who has been gone a long time, Barry Bo Jangles/Relic.

This is defintely your tone, Bdon. An AOR should get ya there.
 
Bdon, I used to have one of these pedals, I wish I never let it go.

It was a fun pedal. I bet you could find some fun tweaks and make a color palette you might make use of.
