Another NSGD!

Got some Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom (10-52) strings on her this evening and got some playing in. First real impressions, holy F@#& is this thing neck heavy!
It is the first SG I have owned that has Grover large kidney tuners on it. I had a set of spare Grovers around from an unfinished project so I swapped small kidney buttons for the large ones. There is a considerable weight difference, especially over 6 tuners.

So the million dollar question you are all waiting to ask is: Is the neck dive any better?

The $0.10 answer is a resounding NO!

Hopefully the addition of a Maestro vibrola will help with that. I may also do the unthinkable and move the strap button from the rear of the neck to the rear of the upper horn.

BUT!!!!!!! These pickups sound absolutely killer!

I am looking for honest opinions here guys.
I have the chance to pick this up:

It is a B7 type that I can get very cheap. I love the look of the Maestro vibrola but the long tail Bigsby on an SG is a close second. Since the addition of either one is really only for aesthetic purposes as I can’t for the life of me use one, what are your opinions of one versus the other?

The one pictured is crap. Cheaply plated pot metal that will start to peel as soon as you look at it.
The Bigsby B7 is a fine piece of art in itself. It's highly polished aluminum, not plated.
Plus it can benefit from using a Vibramate mount to keep from molesting the guitar with screw holes.
Don't sell that fine Elite short. A B7 is the ticket.

I do like the looks of a Maestro vibrola or a Bigsby on an SG. But I'm not much of a mechanical vibrato user. I wouldn't add it just because it looks good. I'm wondering if getting around the Bigsby hardware to access the controls would be an issue... especially if you ain't going to use it. At least the Maestro has a lower profile and the arm should be easy to remove. I have no clue with the Bigsby's. How much of an issue is the neck dive for you?

Ok. You sold me Hack! I will bide my time and wait for the right vibra-thingy to show itself before I make any moves!

Sysco,
It is no problem when seated, but of the 7 SGs I have owned, this one is the worst for neck dive when standing.
One trick I may end up using (that I have used before) is a chunk of 1/4” steel plate about an inch and a half wide and 6 inches long wrapped in black duct tape. I tape that to the tail of my guitar strap near the strap button at the rear of the guitar.
The extra weight help immensely with the dive.
