NGD content: The Waiting ----- according to Gball is the hardest part

Made my first adjustments to the LP today. The bridge was a bit high, so I loosened the strings and lowered it some. Next adjustment will be to raise the tail piece a wee bit.
I felt way better playing it once I got it down a bit closer to how my Epi LP is set up.

This guitar is a keeper for sure. Can't wait to get way better on my Maiden songs and to figure out filming and uploading vids to You tube so we can have some Friday Night riffs entries.

wait...............................................you didnt change the strings??????????????? THos have swamp smudge and Miami crud on them --- (might be some cocaine on there!!!)

DUDe.......... change the bloody strings !!! .....HA its MIAMI could be BLOOD on them too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adrian, Not changed strings yet due to extenuating circumstances. The first being I don't want to change the strings a half dozen times as I am not prepared to do a complete once over and done with it just yet, so I'd be wasting strings until I am ready to do all my tweaks and then install strings and be done with it.

so-- here is the thing the Gibson is stellar and lovely .....so see you will not be NEEDING that subpar EPIPHONE ...."p.o.s." ...... let me dispose of it for you and in exchange Ill take some kittens off your hands ;)

The funny thing is.... That POS EPI is more of a Gibson --sound wise, than it is an EPI. SEE: T Top Pickups, Bone Nut and pro setup.

are those the Hanes socks ?? or fruit of the loom ...... asking for a friend ;)
Hanes today, I managed the Only way to hold a guitar in one's lap, plus hold a camera phone to grab some pics of the sides of a ROUND bodied LP and not have it fall over with 4 dogs surrounding my chair and all kinds of disasters possible.

Socks and computer and amp cords all get showcased in collateral damage.

My Next trick after a bit more practicing will be to compare weights between the EPI and the LP.

I will use my bath scale and subtract totals for me plus each guitar and compare. If memory is correct, the Epi weighs a little over 9lbs and I can already tell the '79 is @ 10+. I will see how close my guesses are.

9.3 for Epi, 10.6 lbs for 79.

I nailed the '79 weight on the nose. Me in winter sweat clothes, and the '79 was 247 lbs, just me was 236.6 so basically 10.4 lbs.

Me plus EPI was 245.6 -236.6 = 9 lbs even

I bought a cherry burst Standard in '79 that was a lot like this one: similar light flame, one piece back.
Slim maple neck, big volute for strength. Played great, lively at volume, not too heavy by Norlin standards. Mine had uncovered zebras.

Ten years later a bandmate, one of my oldest friends, fell in love with it talked me into selling.
Sold it to him dirt cheap with the agreement that if he ever decided to part with it, I'd have first dibs to buy it back.

Band breaks up. Five years go by. When I finally ran into him again I asked how my old guitar was doing.
"Oh, I sold it a coupla years ago. Got a great price. Used the money to buy a '59 LP Junior." Grrr...

Congrats!

Now, put on some makeup and get that beauty SMOKING!

always loved that POS Epi--- that color is spectacular--- your a lucky Man ;)
looks like action and pup height are SPOT ON Brother!! Amazing how good those "low end" Epiphones can be aint it??

Adrian, you would have loved my mom n pop shop for some of the guitars he'd get in. Not super Ferengi prices, but he was always cheaper than GC, other big name stores, and was basically a good old timer who played guitar and sang and had his wife who played and taught piano. Simple folks who ran a simple store. The POS EPI hung on his EPI LP section for a few years before I bought it. I couldn't figure out why it took so long to move it especially at the price. I am thinking it was sitting right about $329-$359 if I remember right. Only thing I could tell was maybe the missing switch tip kept buyers away. With my cost of T Tops and Bone Nut install, it surely is worth 2x what it cost originally. At the current prices of T Tops, it might be even 3x.

I'd ask for the JR and cash for the jerk move.
