NGD content: The Waiting ----- according to Gball is the hardest part

Weirdly my 2020 Goldtop Standard did not have an aluminum ABR like Robert's. They must have changed the spec.
Doesn't matter though because I chucked it and replaced it with a Nashville, but an interesting change they made at the factory.

As of 2017, the Les Paul Standards all received the aluminum ABR and Aluminum Stop Bar. (Gibson actually published this change to the public) Gibson was quick to point out (internally) that some post 2017 modals may have received Zamak due to availability, but if the published specification says 'aluminum,' then Gibson would swap out Zamak for aluminum at the client's request.

@gball - See this link and refer to 'Top Features" section:

For example, on my 2021 Les Paul 50's Standard, the published specs calls for a "BB1 in the neck and a BB2 in the bridge," but the back of the builder's photo contained the handwritten phrase "BB-3 Bridge," which is likely due to the availability of a given pickup at the time of production.

Most manufacturers will produce an 'alternate parts data sheet' that will specify authorized deviations on materials and hardware based on availability.

I prefer to leave this guitar 'as-is' so the ABR-1 stays. Intonation is well within specifications and available range of movement.

Yeah. If stock OEM equipment gave me the settings I needed, I’d leave well enough alone. I wouldn’t hesitate to swap if the OEM equipment didn’t quite work and something else did, though. I’d also swap if the OEM parts had reliability or durability issues.

But, more often than not, I’m learning there is little reason to just mod things. If it works I leave it.

Speaking of reading up on things.

Apparently there must be some difference in Pre and post 2001 Nashville bridge saddles.
Several sellers of saddles mention the Pre-2001 versions.

Quite possible.

Gibson changed the suppliers for their hardware a couple of times over the years. Schaller, Gotoh, Ping, Tonepros etc..

Another thing that I actually observed regarding the various '79 Les Paul KM's I have seen on Youtube, or for sale on Reverb etc centers around the hardware.

On my guitar,Trogly's, etc, they have Nickel Tuners but Chrome Tail Piece and Bridge.

Can anyone research and confirm?

My USPS tracking info says,

Out for delivery.PNG

Crazy part is I got the deal made on ebay Feb 4. Bridge is coming from Pennsylvania and of course I live less than 100 miles away, yet some guitar strings I bought Feb 7 off a seller in California got to me already despite buying them after the bridge and USPS delivered them as well. Go Figure.

@Robert Herndon, Nothing we can do about USPS. Once I had an item coming to me and USPS tracking said out for delivery/then 1st attempt undeliverable, 2nd attempt same etc. Turns out they were trying to deliver it somewhere in Virginia when the address was clearly Baltimore. I had to get a supervisor to hunt it down and process it personally. Turns out the code number on the package placed it in VA instead of Bmore. The seller had used a Kiosk to process the postage and not a real person.

The new Kluson Pre-slotted Nashville bridge came today. Seems like a good unit, and I did not even need to move the pre set saddle positions to intonate the guitar. But, there are 2 things I would caution about.

The holes in the OEM Schaller bridge are smaller diameter than this Kluson's bridge and thumb wheel rod but, the threaded part of the Kluson thumb wheel screws right into the stock bushings, so no need to remove the stock ones I just repaired in order to install the Kluson bushings.

The 2nd thing is the spacing between the 2 E string pre slots. They are not quite as wide apart E to E as the Schaller saddle slots. I am going to enjoy the guitar with this bridge then get plain saddles and slot them myself for the OEM Schaller bridge and swap back to the Schaller. Then I should be able to use this Kluson on another guitar.

Good to go for now on my new R n R machine.

Well sh#t howdy. I gotta go read up on bridges !

@Don O, from some of the reading and searching for bridge info and parts etc, I think I ought to start a thread where we all can add details about the various bridges for Gibson style guitars and others, including bridges like Floyd Rose, Licensed FR, Acoustic bridges, Built in Acoustic Pickup type bridges like in my Ovation Celebrity etc.

I will start off with some things you guys have said on these pages such as, Gibson used various vendors pre 2001 and post 20001 which yielded bigger or smaller post hole sizes, springs or no springs in the bridge, different size adjustment screws etc.

Stay Tuned I guess. I sure have learned a lot and have only scratched the surface of the minutia.

Upon seeing the prices of these, plus prices for just stuff like PUPS I am glad to have found my LP KM when I did. I like the natural back on mine better than the burst ones too.
