I am a weirdo who likes the fadeds & thin finish on my Sg's & doesn't like a cap like a LP. Thats just me though..those sure look nice. They make the Special w/90's in the 2020's i think also. Spec8..ya headed to SG land? its a nice place to be !! An Sg & that gorgeous LP you just got would compliment each other real well

I’d go with the ‘61. SG’s are meant to be lean and mean, none of that flame maple stuff. Realistically I would pick the one that spoke to me after playing them both.

It does. The 61' is period correct. Both are Custom Shop guitars very close in price.

I can't stand the red SG's. No matter how original they are I just can't own one...
Forgot to mention...I'll never own another P90 guitar either.
That's 0 for 2 and the single pickup makes it 0 for 3.

I'm a sucker for the bare bones elegance (if that's possible) of a 60's SG .
I love fancy figured wood. However to me fancy maple seems weird to me on a Gibson SG. On another builder's SG style guitar no problem, but for me a Gibson SG is a thin slab of mahogany.
