Which SG???

Which SG?

As I look around at SG's and pricing I'm wondering if either of these is worth the $4500 they cost?

That is the price of THREE SG Standards....

You'll only know if you play one. I'd been thinking toward the end of last year that my dream guitar might be a CS SG but I had the same experience that I did when looking for an R8: They were not, as a rule, objectively better than Gibson USA (but individual guitars certainly can be I am guessing). I ended up just sticking with my LP Traditional instead of buying an R8 and so far sticking with my SG Standard instead of the CS one, although if I play one some day that blows enough wind up my skirt I would still entertain the idea of getting it.

NAD may put NGD on hold for a while...but I had to have that sweet heavy Fender!

I also learned something and feel kind of stupid. I have owned many Lansing speakers
in the past, but I didn't know that Lansings were JBL!

Yeah, Lansing founded JBL after his contract with Altec ran out. Altec kept the Lansing name, so Jim Lansing created JBL from his initials. He started out making speakers for movie theatres and old radio units.

We used a lot of huge Lansing speakers for PA set ups in the USAF! I recall borrowing a couple for a big old barn party I DJ'd for my little sisters High School graduation!

They filled a LOT of space!

I remember the JBL L100 hifi speakers in the mid 70s. They were a kickass, high volume rock machines.

Well Chris, I think I may have to eat my words. I played an aged Custom Shop SG today at my local shop that is making me reevaluate everything it was so good. Normally I don't go in for aged guitars but it played and sounded so good I am sitting here right now thinking I may just have to have it. Was a fair bit of money ($5100 because it is a heavy-aged limited run) but I think I can get some knocked off of that.

The proof is in the playing! You never know until you pick it up and plug it in. Then things happen...usually just a normal thing until you get that one that is just "IT".

If you found a guitar that has that special feel and sound you better grab it! I buy too many things online and never know what I'm getting. I lucked out with the
2013 Les Paul I just got recently. I should just keep playing it and be happy! The new amp is going to keep me busy for a while...
