Speaking of wildlife, the wife found this on the side steps this morning. He’s about a 5 ft rattle snake and looks well fed.

Yeah, bad news is he slithered back to the left into the wood pile of demo-ed Work bench’s that’s I piled underneath a deck. I have to walk down those stairs to get to the build up area where I’m working. I hope to have the stairs punched down from the garage this month.

Installed a 36 inch solid core door in the shop today. I have a second copy of the door for the studio outer door. So this was the practice install. 
The studio entrance will have an inner and outer door. The inner door will have a bottom seal that mechanically lowers and seals to the floor when closed.

Big demo day. We cut through the garage slab for the stairway that will connect the build up area to the main house. This cut is right outside the door that goes from the garage in to the house. Once the stairs are built I will build a set of walls enclosing them into a new room, dubbed a mud room. The door that currently opens from the house into the garage will be moved to the outer wall of the mud room, which will open into the garage. Day 1 was cut and bust out all the concrete. Tomorrow is cut through the plywood and remove the joists.
Once the stairs are completed I can then walk down to the “basement” without having to go outside and slip in through a small access door.
This is a major improvement, connecting the build up area (aka basement) to the rest of the house. It basically adds 1400 sq ft to the house floor plan.
