Attention Vette Lovers

Please let me preface this following by saying that this is not a political statement, only a reference to an event in history to be used in comparison...

In 2009, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Barrack Obama who had served as president for less than one year for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people" If a man can receive this prestigious award simply for being elected, why can't a car be awarded this prestigious award simply for being built?

On another note speaking of problematic engines, how's that Coyote Engine Tick coming along?

Say what you will about a Corvette being a "cheap" car, however a $60,000 starting price and over $100,000 fully loaded base model Stingray is not what I would consider as a cheap price. I'm not sure how many of us average guys can afford to purchase this car.

Cheap in the sense of GM's mandated price point. The car just does nothing for me, even if the LT2's two-piece valves and powdered metal rods were corrected. Its a counterfeit Lamborghini without the soul.

I have seen some Coyote problems, but not to the same extent as the LS/LT failures. With the Ford, it seems to be general abuse/misuse. With the GM, its always a metallurgical failure - con rod or two-piece valve.

If Corvette made a car from dried dung, Vette people would rave about it...its that aspect of the mentality of GM afficnados that is so comical.

Im not really a huge fan of how the new S550 Mustang looks. I prefer the retro look of the 2005-2009. I also dig the Challenger's retro styling, but the presence of Mercedes C Class suspension components doesn't exactly impress.

Im more of a fan of cars from the 1930's from an aesthetic perspective. The only new car i really like (Overall) is the Alfa-Romeo Guilia Sport or Lusso AWD.

If I was going to spend $70,000 on a car, it wouldn't be the Corvette. It would likely be the 2.9 Twin Turbo Alfa Romeo Gulia AWD with 505 horsepower and 443 lbs/ft of torque. Laid down a 7 minute 32 second Nurburgring lap....Nice little car, but the lack of a true manual gearbox would keep me out of it....

I mean, since you used the Obama metaphor, what's more impressive to you??? A 2.9 litre making 505/443 or a 6.2 litre V8 making 495/470??? Almost dead-equal lap times....

Now, my more 'youthful' side likes the 2020 Shelby GT350 with 5.2 Voodoo Flat-Plane making 526 HP and 429 lbs/ft...and still available with my mandatory six-speed manual...nicely priced at $59,140.00...

Well the spec sheet looks nice, but the car is fugly. I've been driving a manual trans for the past 15 years, but my wife doesn't do the clutch thing very well so I need an auto just so she can drive it.

No AWD option for Twin Turbo Alfa Romeo Gulia, only RWD.

I drive in extremely heavy L.A. traffic back and forth to work. My regular 20 mile commute takes 1.5 to 2 hours, each way, each day. 4 hours driving to work 8 hours a day. Stop and go driving in my manual trans is getting very old, very quick.
