What gear?

You all know I bought that 2013 Traditional...which I LOVE!

But, I also bought a real nice Beeman Pellet Pistol and a Gamo Pellet Rifle. Things I can wile away the time with in the backyard and even the house.
The pistol is super nice and with a ballistic putty filled target I shoot indoors all day long!

Not gear, I know, but fun none the less...

Funny timing. I was thinking of getting a bow and arrows to shoot.

I have been building a handgun collection, and doing fun upgrades like fiber sites, etc. I just joined a private range before all this went down. I was shooting 2x per week. Now they are closed until....well, who knows, right! I miss shooting. I have been dry firing in the basement, but it just doesn't cut it.

What should I look for in a used bow/arrows? I don’t need a fancy hunting thing, just a simple bow and maybe a dozen arrows. I’ll get a big target on a tripod. I can shoot in my driveway or backyard.

I've been out of the game quite a while. I used to shoot a PSE when they were made in Arizona. I went to their main shop and was fitted for a bow with the right draw length and weight. They cut all my arrows down to the right size for me and showed me how to sight the bow in. Compound bows have really nice adjustable sights these days. You put a peep hole in the string and the sights are mounted near the handle. If you but one you'll find a nice release makes shooting much smoother as well...

Here is the latest PSE similar, but way more advanced than what I had. Very nice bows!

You should really look into a nice pro level pellet pistol. Beeman makes one the looks damn near exactly like a 1911 .45 and it shoots at over 600fps with is quite a lot for a pistol.

I bought a Beeman P3 that shoots around 450fps

That is really nice! I do have woods in my backyard, so I could have some fun with that!

I shoot mine right in the house. It's not loud and very accurate. You just need a box target with some type of putty on the back wall.

Here is the one I have. It's made from wood as you can see. The back piece of wood has a thin steel plate covered by ballistic clay.

I've never had a pellet bounce out and my gun is accurate enough to never miss that big a target.

Whoa, way over kill for driveway shooting. I’ve scoped out eBay and can get a simple bow and a dozen arrows for $100. :io:

I always go for the good stuff. No need to work up to it. I've spent a lot more money working my way from the starter kit to the good stuff too many times.

But, I do understand you are looking for something to just play around with at the new place. Just get something with a good review that won't fall apart on you...

I love my old Darton....but they aren’t the same anymore....way more “high tech”, and the only entry/moderate level stuff that they offer now is for kids(short draw length).
If I was going to get back in to it, I’d probably go recurve....I started with a longbow, then a recurve, and then compound....and crossbow. Never liked mechanical releases, always fingers(except for the crossbows of course:wink:) I loved archery...I wonder if my new neighbors would freak if I started up again....

A single bow is good to start with. The compound bow is more powerful, but learn your fundamentals on a single bow. Might find a good used one if you put the word out in Aroowhead Village...

I never looked back at a re-curve once I bought my compound bow. I did use only a leather finger patch for a long time and always hunted with one.
But I did get a mechanical release for target shooting because for me they were much more accurate in competition.

There is no way I can shoot a bow at my current home. It's right in a city neighborhood in California, Los Angeles county no less! I'm just happy none
of my neighbors have complained about the pellet rifle and pistol yet!

I will be moving somewhere with land in 6 year and I'll still be young enough to enjoy the outdoors. Whether it's the 6 acres out in the desert or the
28 acres in Ohio I'm moving away from houses stacked on top of each other!

Me neither really....but sometimes I feel nostalgic...heck I hardly used the sights on my compound. It was one of those things like a guitar, once I became acquainted and practiced with it, it becomes a physical extension.
Glove for me, always used two fingers...my favorite old deerskin glove had great feel, and smooth quiet release. This thing is ancient now though.

I always used my sights. I thought it was so cool after having grown up with a re-curve. It was much easier to get a clean kill when hunting.
