What are you doing different since our lockdown

Robert, I bet you had a lot of enjoyment out there. Kathy and I drove from Vegas to Death Valley in March 2016 or 17 in a rental car with no tags. LOL.

I kept waiting to get pulled over by a cop, but nope. PS, I almost forgot to mention one of the highlights of the Death Valley visit was at the visitors station. I went up to the info desk to chat with one of the "Rangers" and even nearly 3000 miles away, she happened to have grown up in Western Md out in the Garrett County area near Deep Creek Lake. Sadly my whole trip West was accompanied by me having the flu when we flew out for the daughter's Vegas wedding. I did manage to walk out on the Salt Flat in Death Valley and to enjoy Route 66 and a town called Seligman where Kathy took me to a cool Snack Shack called Delgadillo's Snowcap

That seems wonderful and I am very happy for you.

I assume you must trailer the bike out to the valley, correct? How many miles do you a bile in a journey?

Also, did you spend the entire night in that cafe, on that box spring? How long of a time were you on the journey in total?

Whatever the particulars, you are doing things people only talk about doing. That is amazing.

As a freind, I feel compelled to remind you not to take chances and proceed safely. Injuries on a bike in desolate areas are seious situations, particularly without a working phone. Please never go anywhere alone without communication.

As for doing anything differently here. OK, Let me see. The thing I do most differently is THINK of something we want to do, need to do, then go. Then realize, I CAN"T just GO. SO I say,

"OH SHIUT" I can't just get in the truck and go to the store and go get it and be about the next phase of using the thing I just got. Like Shoes,. Food, Toiletries,, lumber, steel, Korean food, Pizza, OIL and car parts, bricks and blocks, visit friends, go to movies, sporting events, gigs or concerts, all manner of things including going tot he chiropractor enough to keep my low back pains away, or out of town to see and help my elderly mom suffering with dementia.

I also do all the food shopping for me and my Kathy. And since you all asked. I am also shoveling literally dump truck loads full of dirt, gravel, and other property maintenance materials at her house, building a handicapped ramp for dad at his house, spending money I'd rather devote toward fixing up sheds and houses and vehicles I have, on stuff like fencing and temporary buildings for untagged vehicle storage, to appease the county zoning man due to a complaint filed by a Jack ASS who must pass by mine and my neighbor's houses enough to get a burr up his butt. So, Basically I am robbing Peter to pay Paul and will add Chainlink and Canvas/Poly Greenhouse type building to my list of things I am doing during this Rona fiasco.

Man that desert riding looks like fun.

I really should get my bike out and go. It's been far too long.

If I have to be isolated, I would rather do it the right way and spend it in solitude with nature. No other people.

Strange times we're in, indeed

Locksmith world is back to normal..only had 2 real down weeks...basically when in PA they closed schools. Realized..our job reaches into society everywhere...homes & cars & locks & keys..until that tech is done away with. My job knows no race..financials....it just goes & unlocks

very tired of gear & meets now..before the next wave of BS in Oct. wanted all the gear settled for what i would need..

Hey!!!!

Since the bike only has off road registration, and i do not own a trailer or a second vehicle capable of hauling it, all my rides start from my house.

Its only about 100 yards down our street to the Wilderness. Once i climb the mountain range behind our home, it opens into the Mojave desert.

My ride out to the mine was about 300 miles total, taking me to within 5 miles of the Nevada border. I spent the night on the box springs, riding out at dawn the next day. It's common for me to tie up a Saturday and Sunday on these adventures.

My most common destination is the abandoned Tungsten mining town of Atolia. California. It's a little over 100 miles away, one-way....

Planning food shopping / being a little more organized, and worrying about my wife getting this as she has underlying pulmonary conditions.
We 4 are still working.
Not spending on anything we dont need for the foreseeable future.

My job has been closed the last several Fridays.
So far I have been paid for the Friday listed in payroll as Vacation. They tell me my days will be replenished when they get funds through the PPP program.
I have my doubts.

Not getting any "essential worker" extra pay.
Glad I have my job, but getting tired of driving through my neighborhood on my way to work where the extra cars parked everywhere show the majority are getting paid to stay home.
I know some will not have jobs to go back to; like I said I am glad to have my job.
My wife and 2 adult children feel a bit of it as well.
My neighbor has a school district job to eventually go back to and complains she is bored.

I have been making productive use of the days off to chip away at the "to do" list, or to sleep or nap a little as I feel.
Havent had much more guitar time; some but not a lot.

Spent parts of the last 2 days assembling a Murphy bed for the wife’s craft room.

This is the life I would like. Music isn't doing anything for me right now either. In fact, nothing much interests me anymore.

I've tried to keep busy and have been throwing some partscasters together, but now I'm nearly out of parts, broke as a joke and back to not having anything to do besides break-fix :poo: for work.

I need a wigwam in the desert... and some peyote.

I do miss playing live, but I do not miss the drama...like nobody being able to agree on a song, or a rehearsal time...bands can just be ridiculous.

Lot's of people like to go and look for gold. I prefer to use the old assayer's maps and visit the claims where the miners lived. many buried money and gold on their claims and died before they could return for it. Many of my deep desert rides involve prospecting...
