I was never terribly interested in getting a Strat. Seemed like everyone I knew had one and me being me... I needed to be different. Enter the used G400 I bought. Still have it. Still enjoy playing it. Then I saw that blue Strat in the Sweetwater catalog. Bought it..... and then wondered why it took me so long.
Actually going to sell my shredder strat & my 2 keepers are Fender Strat & Gibson SGJ
Ill start with my all time fav tele radios….Just tell 'em you hate anything Fender. That should do it.
There is a Strat out there for even the most diehard Gibson fan. It's just a matter of time before that special one speaks to you.
Until that magic Tele comes along and kicks your Strat in the knees…..lol.

Oh, I have a Tele. Very unusual model called a Players Tele. Standard Tele neck pickup, Strat center pickup, and a humbucker in the bridge. 3 way switch with coil split. Not my favorite but decent enough.
Not exactly a Gibson guy here either. Got the G400. Then picked up a fake Tele kit guitar someone else had built. Followed by a Hagstrom Viking. Then finally the Strat. Then I have a Frankentele I’d really like to finish assembling someday.
When I played on worship team at our church I sorta took the same approach on acoustic. Generally there were two of us on acoustic plus an electric and of course…. Bass. To try and separate the two acoustics tonally, if the other guy used a capo, I wouldn’t. Or I would if he didn’t. Sometimes he’d do a capo on the 3rd or 5th fret…. I’d do on the first or second. I have used a capo on the 5th fret, never above. Heard someone say once, if ya gotta capo above the 5th fret….. get a mandolin. I agree.
I do the same. Our lead (and only) singer plays a nice Strat. So I play a Z90 Epi LP and bought an HB Epi LP as a backup for playing out.
Strats are infectious on so many levels and like you it was 'what took me so long'.

He shat upon me recently. I think S-T will survive, I'm not ready to bail. Still some good people there. I am a bit surprised how many made their way over here.
That is a fair description. He has other tendencies that make him dislikable. There is a sister site to S-T I bailed out of largely due to two militaristic mods with a certain political drift to one extreme.
There are more. Impressive list for the amount of time I must say.
Les Paul only player most of my life. Tried assembling a Strat-thing around 1980. Did not go well, I was a dumb kid.
