Welcome Strat Talk folks!

I actually like Strats a lot just been in more music slanted towards SG or LP

The band am in now , is 2 strats & we can see where we will probably go LP to get out of each others way. Sounds great tho but soon as LP was tried instant layering in the mix for live use
I was never terribly interested in getting a Strat. Seemed like everyone I knew had one and me being me... I needed to be different. Enter the used G400 I bought. Still have it. Still enjoy playing it. Then I saw that blue Strat in the Sweetwater catalog. Bought it..... and then wondered why it took me so long.

Actually going to sell my shredder strat & my 2 keepers are Fender Strat & Gibson SGJ

All that gear i have gone through with the minimum amount of guitar i will play in the future. Those 2 can cover my needs from my observation.

What was wild & didn't see it coming. In the 5 or so auditions since decided to play live 1 more time.

I started with the heavies but the gear required..the noise the unfortunately lazy wanna be type in the genre sure did happen.

Getting the Ampegs's & switching permanently from guitar to bass to ride out the music playing.. They just do classic rock almost by themselves. Rediscovered my love for motown & R&B ,not necessarily what we are playing but the ..space..the timing..the space in the mix actually gives way more room to create musically & its so much easier to dial in then when 2 guitars are in B in your bass range. Still will always be heavy player but on bass am natural at rock type with swing beats & off timing

Excited for the new band. It's very well organized.

There is a Strat out there for even the most diehard Gibson fan. It's just a matter of time before that special one speaks to you.

Until that magic Tele comes along and kicks your Strat in the knees…..lol.
Oh, I have a Tele. Very unusual model called a Players Tele. Standard Tele neck pickup, Strat center pickup, and a humbucker in the bridge. 3 way switch with coil split. Not my favorite but decent enough.

Sounds similar to my approach. For the vast majority of my playing time with other people, I've been the only electric guitar. But, on those occasions where I've played with another player, I tend to not duplicate the other player. If the other player is predominantly a Strat player, I'll mostly use my Les Paul (or other humbucker-based guitar). If the other player prefers humbuckers, I'll mostly use my Strat.

I mean, it's not a hard-and-fast rule, or anything. But, it helps to provide a complementary sound.

Not exactly a Gibson guy here either. Got the G400. Then picked up a fake Tele kit guitar someone else had built. Followed by a Hagstrom Viking. Then finally the Strat. Then I have a Frankentele I’d really like to finish assembling someday.

When I played on worship team at our church I sorta took the same approach on acoustic. Generally there were two of us on acoustic plus an electric and of course…. Bass. To try and separate the two acoustics tonally, if the other guy used a capo, I wouldn’t. Or I would if he didn’t. Sometimes he’d do a capo on the 3rd or 5th fret…. I’d do on the first or second. I have used a capo on the 5th fret, never above. Heard someone say once, if ya gotta capo above the 5th fret….. get a mandolin. I agree.

I do the same. Our lead (and only) singer plays a nice Strat. So I play a Z90 Epi LP and bought an HB Epi LP as a backup for playing out.

Strats are infectious on so many levels and like you it was 'what took me so long'.

What happened on that forum that made you all to run away? lol
See below
Pretty soon ST will just be Lonn’s guitar room in his basement.

He called me a liar when I didn’t lie.
He shat upon me recently. I think S-T will survive, I'm not ready to bail. Still some good people there. I am a bit surprised how many made their way over here.
From my understanding, Lonn is a power hungry moderator at that forum. Additionally from what I gathered he is not a player, only a flipper that insultes talented musicians and chases them away. Their loss, our gain.
That is a fair description. He has other tendencies that make him dislikable. There is a sister site to S-T I bailed out of largely due to two militaristic mods with a certain political drift to one extreme.

Is this the current list, or did Robb miss someone ?

There are more. Impressive list for the amount of time I must say.

Les Paul only player most of my life. Tried assembling a Strat-thing around 1980. Did not go well, I was a dumb kid.

The partscaster I named StratoMutt was put together in 2019. Exceeded my expectations. Makes all the sounds I wanted and more.

The Lester is still the proper tool for truly rocking out. The Gibson humbucker is perfection.
