TVvoodoo's Straplab

Well boys and girls. Going to be joining TTR Well Hung club. Brad and I hooked up a few days ago on a strap for my blue Strat. He felt, as did I, the one I liked was too wide and overkill for my guitar. So.... he’s building one for me that 1/2” narrower, in colors that more closed compliment the guitar. Photos when I get the strap. Can’t wait.

I knew you would pull the trigger iblive! (y)

I Z-grrl, sure could make you something like that. That Paul is ANGELIC... in fact I had one similar once, an Agile brand.

The only white, or more "bone" coloured leather I have in right now is some pigskin suede, which if you are careful with would last years . But you know suede has a tendency to build mojo.... you could treat it with scotchbrite stuff for suede or nubuck... to protect it. I have some nice pure white vinyl that is not bad either, but it does have a bit of a plastic feel, not exactly like true leather. I could order in too, but it gets a bit more expensive that way... shipping costs etc.
I get maybe one ask a year for white straps. and its usually a fella. I'll say "white straps are for girls, or SRV, are you SRV?" LOL!! But, as a lady, I can't bring that argument.

This doesn't look too crazy difficult and I would make it with rolled edges that would be way more comfy on the neck unless you want that WBW three ply effect. The only thing is, stitching like this on factory straps is done by computer controlled machines, for absolute perfection. I do not have one of these, so getting absolute perfect quilted diamonds is probably not going to happen. I would do my best however. This doesnt scare me like an ask earlier this week for detail stitching around an intricate shape. I won't show the result here... the test I did to see if I could do it, was rather humbling.

The best way to start is to measure a strap you are already using and let me know your length. I would include four or five inches adjustment either way, but as a lady, I imagine your home length is slightly less than most the fellas here.

By my eye that strap looks to be about 2.5" or a little more wide. When your LP custom arrives and has gold hardware, I could use gold finished rivets... that would be nice.
Let me think on it. I wish I had never seen that guitar! Ugh!!!

what do customized cars, guitar cases and coffins have in common?

lots of them feature the beautifully luminous glow of crushed velvet.

These are two more prototypes of the Velvet Crush series... now working on one in red, and soon to come will be black.
Can come with, or without biker bling. Can also customize with a leather patch with your name in runic lettering on it in a variety
of colours.

For example... Mitch would read as: ᛗᛁᛏᚲᚺ Edward would read as: ᛖᛞᚹᚨᚱᛞ or ᛏᛟᚾᛁ would be Tony - it's a cool way to
be a little bit middle earth 'viking' and a great conversation starter.

These are lightly padded with 1/4" med. density upholstery foam, and go from about 40" all the way to 59" in the sliding buckle design. 2.5" wide.
I'm going to keep these under $100 US, even with the customization, prolly $70 ish for base strap only.

Phew! All four colour versions of the first run now completed. I'll be adding these to the store this weekend.
A little bit old an old school fuzzy dice/biker/pimp/roller rink aestetic, but totally Rock 'n roll.

Adding in a nice customer photo in from Ontario, of a custom "Stage King" strap on a guitar crafted by a lady luthier, "Ashley Leanne Guitars" which I am quite proud to have a strap attached to.

Finally some kind of diagnosis on my father, still in hospital... something called pseudomona - which is not real good for an older fella with all kinds of other pre-conditions. The medics are trying hard to treat it, but this particular bacterial infection is stubborn, and it's one of those mutated things that laugh at modern antibotics. He's a tough old cowpoke.... he ain't givin in without a fight - look at this beastly little critter... trying to take down the strongest man I know

That picture of Godin is off their site Brad, i do not own that guitar, I wish i did have it though .. I hope the Doc's can find a way to help out your Father to fight off that infection. Keep us posted.

Probably the last and final full-on leather genocide strap listed this morning. Maddening story. The leather supplier I picked this stuff up from has discontinued it and is sold out of it in North America. There is some available in European stores, same company. But for some reason they refuse to ship it to me, not matter how hard I beg. Must be some jurisdiction/territorial thing. Anyway, that's the story. bastages!

a pewtery/rough and ready distressed finish on buttery soft lambskin, that's only going to look better with age.

Newly Well-Hung Owner/Administrator RVA noted "It's been a game-changer for me - I am standing up to play guitar for the first time in a long while. The banner don't lie, folks!"

A Well-Hung guitar strap will help unglue your ass from that chair, and get you up and rockin' so you can be super expressive and have far more fun kickin' out the jams, like you should be doing.
I hear it over and over again. It's like a damn fountain of youth!

Also a couple of new Shock & Awes are now up on Reverb... #73 and #75 - My take on a MILSPEC strap that is built to dominate all others.
3" wide, double D-ring adjustment. Good leather where it counts, and simu-battlefield relic'd, each different and individually numbered.

Great work as usual Brad! All i can say from my own experience, is the comfortability and workmanship is Supreme! What i can say, if your looking to replace an old strap or straps or needing a strap for that new axe. You won't be disappointed with a WELL- HUNG strap..:)
