Sorry my brothers... been lurking lately... and building still but nothing I want to unveil until customer arrival. Got some heavy, heavy news about my dad who`s in hospital still, and basically now he has a been given an expiration date measured in months. So, we are digesting this news hoping they will see fit to make it possible send him home, and he can be with us for at least a few of them. Been on the phone with him a lot, also with my mom a lot.
But I still want this thread to remain interesting.. i was looking through some assorted pics, looking for dad pics come up with some other guitar designs and such that I had planned at one time, made graphic treatments of to flesh them out, or saved from sources. They are fun to look at, took my mind off things for a bit.
on another forum we were trying to come up with a new original DC style design, close to the big G, but still a bit different... this was my submission, on the far left.
I still think it even better than the original LOL
What to do to punk out one of those First Act Volkwagen guitars... this:
Modifed explorer to trim the wall-denter part off.... not great but worth considering
a Goldtop Explorer, all torted out concept, fun to think of but not real metal
``Oh Brad!`` paul concept I still plan to do someday...
Almost did this, but then did a different guitar with a carved skull instead
This was another tele I wanted to do someday... I started it, and couldn`t figure out the aged metal effect proper and gave up.
Online guitar design generation fun...
Dude bought hisself a vintage white Kramer... asked for suggestions to dress it up a bit...
Cool simple and clever mod I would love to do someday for a plain jane white strat
A few years ago I spend hours and hours separating the traditional f-paisley into separate layers and elements in a photoshop type program this gave me the ability to create
all manner of paisley colour schemes, only limited by imagination. Can even recreate poor registration of pattern, all levels and types of vintage aging, including fading of the various pigments and change the texture and colour of background. I was supplying the digital pattern to people to have printed for themselves to apply for awhile at no charge, only with the suggestion they maybe purchase a strap or whatever. Nobody ever did, so I just stopped offering it up.
Various paisleycaster treatments... these are off the beaten path but most people just wanted the traditional colour pattern, aged.
Anyway, it was fun to look back on all this, I hope you fellas enjoy it too.

Very sorry to hear about your father -- mine was given the expiration date speech --was in the room with him at "that moment" --- 13 years ago now....still miss him. Always will.

Great stuff! I've found very few straps where the lining seems to be taken into consideration... although I haven't looked all that hard to be honest. I always seem to come back to the "Fender" (not actually) knock-off cheetah strap that I got in China 18 years ago. Very hard to find straps where the lining isn't too slippy. Guess now I know where to find one
His straps are not slippy, I know, i have two now and two more coming, you won't beat the TVvoodoo's Straps,
Comfort is A- 1 and Workmanship..

Funny thing, some guys want real slippy straps, others abhor them. I need to invent one with a switch on it, three modes: Slippy, grippy, neutral.
Easy to deal with a grippy strap, lift your guitar up just slightly, if you need/want to reposition and it will stay.
A slippy strap? Your whole gig is basically repositioning, particularly if you have an annoying diver. One more thing to worry about.

Nothing to apologize for mate. Keep in touch with your M&D as much as you can. Stay strong for Mom and all will be well. I was fortunate enough to give my Dad a big hug and a heart felt "love you Dad" the day he unexpectedly passed away. It's the only thing that got me through that event.
