TVvoodoo's Straplab

Romain over in France has done it again. The day "Cowboy Prayer" arrived at his door, he says he decided it was time to purchase this '81 Silverburst Custom - now they are united like it was destiny. Whoa! Seems sort of backwards in GAS methodology, but I ain't complainin' none!

LOOK AT THIS SWEET HOLY GOODNESS!

Like I told him, with crosses displayed on both the front and back of the shoulder pad, he's totally immune from vampire attacks and such.

The weight doesn't feel with your strap, It's perfect... I think you could tag Adam Jones,
If he has some taste it will buy a strap as nice as this one for his LP... A bientôt mon ami" -Romain

Couple new things off the bench... wierd pictures aren't loading proper from my host this morning.

This is a series I started maybe five years ago, but don't add new versions unless I can find the ideal hides to pull off the theme.
Managed to dig up some of this huge scaley embossed cowhide in aged / distressed gold, and it's a total winner...

Velociraptor Gold

below, Jojo left his home in Tuscon Arizona.... a different version of the 1969 Series, of padded ribbon on a black base, (in this case rather convincing faux black leather). Once again named after a hit song released in 1969 - "Get Back"

My father is doing ok, if any one is wondering... they are trying to tame an infection in his blood, trying all kinds of antibiotics. I have half a mind to call up the sawbones and inform him that for an old cowboy like my dad he should be prescribing plenty of whisky. But then that would just prove I have half a mind.

Any cool cats looking to get their "RAWR!" on, could probably use a hair-on Black Leopard strap. Genuine hair-on cowhide, wildly dyed in black and grey give this strap a ferocious jungle hunt vibe that'll surely drive the likes of that witch Carol Baskins even more cray if she ever finds out about it.

Hide was kind of pricey, and it was a smaller remnant, but I'm glad took a chance on it. Feels real nice. Way better than fake fun fur.
Easy care, and no litter box, raw meat, fangs or razor sharp claws to worry about.

The real beautiful thing is, it don't smell like it got sprayed by a big wild jungle cat, and that's a GOOD thing!

It's pretty cool. I have enough hide to make at least one more I think. I you wear it, they can grab you by the pussycat

Also new in the store fresh this morning, a little something I named "BeastMaster XXX" - just a total monster of a strap.

Well boys and girls. Going to be joining TTR Well Hung club. Brad and I hooked up a few days ago on a strap for my blue Strat. He felt, as did I, the one I liked was too wide and overkill for my guitar. So.... he’s building one for me that 1/2” narrower, in colors that more closely compliment the guitar. Photos when I get the strap. Can’t wait.

Z-grrl, sure could make you something like that. That Paul is ANGELIC... in fact I had one similar once, an Agile brand.

The only white, or more "bone" coloured leather I have in right now is some pigskin suede, which if you are careful with would last years . But you know suede has a tendency to build mojo.... you could treat it with scotchbrite stuff for suede or nubuck... to protect it. I have some nice pure white vinyl that is not bad either, but it does have a bit of a plastic feel, not exactly like true leather. I could order in too, but it gets a bit more expensive that way... shipping costs etc.
I get maybe one ask a year for white straps. and its usually a fella. I'll say "white straps are for girls, or SRV, are you SRV?" LOL!! But, as a lady, I can't bring that argument.

This doesn't look too crazy difficult and I would make it with rolled edges that would be way more comfy on the neck unless you want that WBW three ply effect. The only thing is, stitching like this on factory straps is done by computer controlled machines, for absolute perfection. I do not have one of these, so getting absolute perfect quilted diamonds is probably not going to happen. I would do my best however. This doesnt scare me like an ask earlier this week for detail stitching around an intricate shape. I won't show the result here... the test I did to see if I could do it, was rather humbling.

The best way to start is to measure a strap you are already using and let me know your length. I would include four or five inches adjustment either way, but as a lady, I imagine your home length is slightly less than most the fellas here.

By my eye that strap looks to be about 2.5" or a little more wide. When your LP custom arrives and has gold hardware, I could use gold finished rivets... that would be nice.
