So Anyway...

I just listened to the Taj Mahal, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton and Freddie King versions. And I have to say the Taj Mahal version
is just fantastic! I really liked it a lot. Clapton not so much and Bonamassa was to busy trying to make blues guitar faces...

No need to say though Freddie King is the King!
don't forget Popa Chubby!

I like that one too, but it's harder to compare a live recording to a studio version and be fair. Bonamassa and Clapton were live.
Clapton was definitely the better of those two!

Looks like everyone who ever played the blues has covered this! Just shows what a great song it is...

Bro the Taj Mahal version is Clapton on guitar. This is a classic written and performed by Freddie. Freddie King is my favorite of all the "Chicago blues" cats.

Cool, I went back and listened to Clapton with the Bluesbreakers and I like what I hear. I guess it's just what he became that turns me off...
Maybe I'm just very selective of the stuff he does that I like? I do think what I've heard of him on the Les Paul sounds heavier and not so thin.

See post 852 above. That is one I do like!
Ah! I elegantly missed that post. Good for you. I definitely like some of the stuff Clapton did in the 1970s and later (Derek and the Dominoes was a great period), but I have to say that Clapton + Gibson, that's where it's at. Nothing wrong with Stratocasters, but Clapton definitely did his best stuff with Gibsons. The Bluesbreakers and Cream, now THAT'S the Eric Clapton aka. God! (Although, as far as the British blues goes, the Green God is my absolute favorite...)
