So Anyway...

So anyway...on that note can anyone clue me in to something by Clapton that
makes everyone love him? I mean come on "Clapton is God" there must be
something I'll like...I have not found it yet...

So anyway.
This caught my eye.
Sort of a cross between my EBMM Luke and my Y2D.
Not a ton of money and I like PRS S2 guitars a lot (I have 2 Miras).
Gotta try one out and see what happens.

Try one out first Tony. I wanted a Vela, but then played one and was not impressed with the tone of the neck pup, which is the neck and middle here. I am not sure if All Music has this guitar, but that is where I played the Vela.

May I offer a perspective??? I can appreciate your observations, but I might be able to shed a bit of light on it too.

During the period in question, there were not a great number of bands such as we have today. Clapton was, at this time, on the "cutting edge" of modern music. He was doing a lot of things - like experimenting with tones - that made his music really stand out.

So, in my eye, I see his "Godliness" (referring to the spray painted graffiti statement) more of a iconic, cultural thing, as opposed to lightning fast technical presentation...

Now, my favourite Clapton work of all time is "Forever Man."

I was analyzing things in a similar way as Robert. " Real innovative " guitar playing wasn't very old by the time Clapton, Hendrix, Carlos, Page, Rory etc are all coming to prominence after the roads were paved by the likes of Ledbelly, Waters, Berry, Lennon, Harrison etc. I can see where the youthful teens of the late 60's generation can idolize all of the players like Clapton in that period.

Of course I will try one out first.
I would never buy a guitar without playing it first.
That's why it took so long to get my Y2D.
I had to find someone who had one in stock to try.
When I buy an amplifier, I try it out and then take the floor model I tried,
not an "I'll go down the basement and get you a new one sealed in the box" one.
Play one and then buy a different one? That's just stupid IMHO.

I have never owned or tried a PRS but would love to. Beautiful guitar.....
You should try one if you get a chance to. My favorite guitar has been the SG, but now I think it's a toss up between my PRS and SG. They are light and comfortable to play.

So anyway,

I was getting fret buzz on only the low e and only at the 12th fret on my new Wolf guitar. It dissapeared if I fretted hard enough. Following the sage advice of Sir Don, I carefully examined my frets for the solution to my problem. It appeared that I had not completely crowned 1/3 of the 13th fret on the bass side. Completing the job solved the issue. Man, what a great feeling! Now, this thing rings true at every place on the fretboard with very low action.

BTW, this guitar is very resonant acoustically. It is a fine instrument.

So, anyway we went on our 2nd family vacation ever, back to Disney / Orlando FLA from Dec. 29 to Jan 5.
We went in 2005, my kids were small, and this time with some help from my mom's estate $$.

We knew it would be crowded at the Disney parks but it was shoulder to shoulder and the lines so long, we really didnt enjoy them much.
The little boats stuck for 15 min. in a pile up in Its a Small World (the only ride thing we got on, because we had Fast Pass for it.)
I was getting creeped out thinking all those little kid figures were gonna go Chucky on us.

It was cold. Maybe over 50 2 of the days, mid 40's raw and rainy at least 2 of them, and drop to below or near freezing the last 2 nights or so.
Coldest snap there in over 30 years.
Yay.

After the New Years Eve Fireworks at Epcot (crowded but we expected that so it wasnt great but as expected)
We were closer to the exit and the first wave of folks out to the parking lot. NO trams running, had to walk. Ok for us but not for some others.
There was a fender bender near the outflow from our lot and we were stuck there over 2 hours until the lots cleared enough we could drive across to get around it.

Snow storm Grayson caused our flight back to Atlantic City to be cancelled; I got another for the next day, Sat. the 6th. But, we had to pay another night stay and for the rental car, more meals, etc.

Finally get back to NJ, its 8 F, the flight was ok, the snow was plowed ok at the airport and roads ok, got home FINALLY.
Cops, firemen and Natural Gas utility trucks blocked our street. We were evacuated because of a gas leak.

Couldnt go home. Told them I had to get my 2 dogs. So we did.
Went to Brother in Laws house, 15 min away, with dogs and luggage. Got the all clear about 3 hours later.
Go home - ok but no gas, no heat no hot water.
Finally back on around 10:00 PM.
NO pipe freezes so thats good.

What a week.
Very disappointing.
Just my luck.

Life goes on, others have worse problems I know but WHAT the F*CK!!
End of rant
Dude......you shoulda said you where here ......I could have spirited you out of the park and gone guitar slumming with me for a few hours.......maybe next time

Listen to the Taj Mahal version of Freddie King "Love her with a feeling" and come back and let me know what you think about it.

I just listened to the Taj Mahal, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton and Freddie King versions. And I have to say the Taj Mahal version
is just fantastic! I really liked it a lot. Clapton not so much and Bonamassa was to busy trying to make blues guitar faces...

No need to say though Freddie King is the King!
