I really need to start making my practice more structured instead of just wandering from riff or partial song to the next or dragging my d*ck around the fretboard.

That is figuratively of course.
Or it could be some really weird meat-slide guitar.

Some of my mindless wank-noodling has some potential I should record more bits, or be ready to.

My iPad or iPhone. For click, I use the recording app I like so much.

I dont like them quite as much as the 9.2k Epiphones. The Epi's are more "cultured" and colorful, but these dont squeal even at screaming volume...

do you only do this with headphones or how is it loud enough over even pretty low amp volumes?

I use my processor (Line 6 X3 Live). It has an audio input jack and a headphone jack.

I plug the audio source into it and I use my headphones. I can hear the backing track, click track, or whatever. I can also hear my guitar and practice along...and I won't bother anybody!

I like Dimarzio pups that I have tried, and they are the stock pups I see. As long as it was not modded to active (I always thing EMG when I see blakout), I say go for it.
