So Anyway...

So anyway...

Fleet week in NYC this week.
I had to drive into Ridgewood yesterday on an errand.
I park my car on Cypress between Greene and Bleeker and get out.

As I get out I hear the sound of jet engines but they are much louder
than they should be. Way too loud. Something is not right.
Being that I was out in the street right in the middle of downtown Manhattan on 9/11
I immediately look up frantically trying to find the airliner that is not where it should be.

I look up just in time to see all 6 Blue Angels fly right over my head in perfect formation.

Love the planes! I can't count the times I've seen the Blue Angles and the Thunderbirds.

Being on Air Force Bases my entire adult life and growing up in an Air Force town there were always Air Shows every year!

So anyway, Musician's Friend now charges sales tax in my state. What a bummer.

It is a bummer...Sweetwater just started taxing here in California this March.

Yup.

It's due to the Supreme Court decision South Dakota vs. Wayfair that reversed the "physical presence test" for whether a state can impose sales tax on sellers who have no physical presence in the state.

Essentially, they upheld a statute by South Dakota which establishes that if you have either 200 sales a year or more than $100,000.00 worth of sales to the state, they may impose sales tax.

This doesn't just apply to the big boys. It applies to eBay sellers, Etsy sellers, and so on.

Although this court case dealt with South Dakota, it opens the doors for any state with a sales tax to do the same thing.
