Smitty Made Me DO IT!

So, I guess I'll post a few pics of why I am in Orlando, in the first place.

Every year the largest tradeshow in the AV industry is held in either Orlando, Florida or Las Vegas, Nevada. The name of the show is, "InfoComm."

This is the first year I've been to Orlando. I don't get to every show, but I've been to the Vegas shows about three times.

So, here are a few pics, in no particular order. These don't begin to scratch the surface. There were hundreds, perhaps over a thousand, vendors here this year.

The Shure and QSC exhibits were the first I visited. My Shure rep had some new wireless conference mics and delegate systems to show me.

The ProCo (yes...the ProCo of Rat pedal fame), Audix, and Denon exhibits can be seen here. The Denon exhibit is barely visible.

The vehicle with the hood up was in a Ford Motor Company exhibit. They were showing off work vehicles.

This is another shot of audio stuff. The Yamaha, Lectrosonics (barely visible), Anchor Speakers, and Peavey exhibits are visible in this shot:

This is a shot of the staging and lighting exhibit. My company doesn't do anything with staging or lighting, but I usually like to go see the exhibits. I was a little disappointed this year. A few years back in one of the Las Vegas shows, they hired a live band to play in the staging and lighting exhibit.

The only live music this year was at the Pioneer Professional Audio exhibit:

In other areas, there were video exhibits. This is just a shot of Mitsubishi and Panasonic:

Speaking of video, the video wall exhibits were nothing short of stunning. This is an 8k video wall. It's 41'8" diagonal. I couldn't fit the entire thing in my camera field of view:

This video wall was smaller, but the processing was great. It was only a 4K wall, but the video quality was very good. I don't know it's exact size, but I'm guessing it was 16' wide.

Anyhoo, that's what I did for work the last two days!

Can I get the AOTO TV in my house? ---- then i could actually READ the GUIDE channel!

I used to go to the Vegas and LA shows every year, regarding broadcasting; they look very similar. Depending how busy you are, how many meetings you have, what you can get to do in the evenings, they can be fun.

Aoto is kind of a new player. That "TV" is actually assembled from individual video "tiles" that all interconnect. Several manufacturers do this sort of thing. Sony had a pretty good display, too. But, Aoto definitely had the largest on the floor. That's one of the things that is so impressive. The tiles fit so precisely that you really have to look carefully to see where they meet.

These things are insanely expensive. Depending on the manufacturer and the size of the wall, just the tiles can run over a hundred grand, before adding a single cable!

The color rendering of the smaller video wall in my last pic was really amazing. My picture just doesn't capture it.

You hit the NAB shows?

Yeah, there is a lot of overlap.

a HUNDRED GRAND ?!?!?! fook THAT! only paid 300.00 for my 55" flat screen......they can keep that thing! lol

Anyway, it was great to finally link up with the great eSGEe. I'd tell you all he is a great guy and a real gentleman...but that would blow his cover...so I won't!

Damn, Smitty, you weren't smoking something you shouldn't have been, were you??? Gentleman? Adrian? Muhahahahahaha!

Just joking, I'm sure he can be a southern gentleman (apart from the fact he's from OHIO!) :D

Glad you guys finally caught up anyway!

Peace and respect!

Alex

Oh yeah... I'M BACK!

Yep! I'm back. Had a lot of stuff to sort out with other social outlets, family etc, but that's all sorted now.
