Slowly, as usual for me

This also reminds me: I don't think I've ever used this, but have you ever tried one of these?

No, not the beer.... jeez! The TubeDepot gizmo:

Solid state rectifier tube socket adapter! Yup, F those tubes, no on sag, increase B+ voltages! I think it's evil... :dood:

I have used a Tube Depot one, but I've made several - makes for a nice test piece if you want to see how an amp like diode rectification to tube type thing or a mod that can be easily reversed. They got their uses for sure...

Last time I remembered, you're a firm believer of supplying your vintage amps with vintage tubes of the same era. Not only do I think this is very cool, it also shows you're a very cool amp nerd too. If I could find a deal that I would be comfortable with, I too would go with what is the best... ;)
You can find "used" Mullard f32 GZ34's that still test full output for reasonable prices. These things generally last a lifetime so can be well worth buying, though I'd buy through a reputable dealer, not eBay & the like.
Ok amp nerds here my home made ,hand made point to point Uncle George Dual Rectifier amp. Eat ur heart out Mesa. Its got a tube rectifier but he gave me a home made SS rectifier i can use to.things slays.View attachment 43060View attachment 43061View attachment 43062View attachment 43063
Looks like he's done a great job of building that. Old iron & glass (& circuit components too I imagine), what's not to like. Cheers

Just waiting for a couple of more things in the postal system, and then things can get started.

Don't you just love that "your package will be delivered later than expected, but is still on its way" tracking notification. I've got a couple of smaller build projects that haven't yet been started on due to the problems with international shipping that COVID-19 has created. Hope everything arrives soon SG John, I'm looking forward to seeing your build. Cheers

Yeah, I love the email that says “A shipping label has been created.” Then you might be able to track it until it is delivered to the drop off point. Then nothing. More nothing. Even more nothing. Then, there’s a box on your front stairs in the middle of a monsoon, and they took no effort to move it a foot or two onto the covered porch.

Anyway, I have transformers and a choke.

Now, just waiting on a couple of packages from Arizona, Germany, and Australia.

I can attest to the all the real time tracking info being very F'd up here too, in the good old USA. I wouldn't dare mess with any postal workers around here. They just might go... Postal.... :ohno::run::run::ohno:

The Postal Workers are great. They put up with a lot of crap. Especially from Congress. With everything done to them to see they fail and can be privatized, they still come up against all odds and deliver. I wish their website was as dependable.

Nice. I like the hammertone finish on the end bells. Cheers

John.... Come buy my Deuce..... I need a Wrangler....

Out of the budget for now. I can justify some money every few weeks for my amp and cellar projects, but need to squirrel away cash for house projects for now. The bike fund is growing, but slowly. That is it's own special drawer in the tool box. When my friend picks up his Fender Custom Shop Strat from having a major set up done, I can add a few more bucks to it.

Same boat. We'll have to settle for drinks when the opportunity arises.
