Post your Recording that are the Perfect Recordings to test Headphones or Speakers with.

AmpMad, I am unfamiliar with Big Generator. Hmmmm....

BTW I am in the middle of attempting to remedy mouse chewed wires in my Laney 8 knob AOR 1284 50 Watt Pro Tube Lead Series head.
In case you think to ask, Yes I have discharged the caps, and in fact one of the wires the damn mouse got to goes the one cap in the preamp section. I may have some questions I will PM you about including pics if and when you are not busy.

Well, we all know how many studio monitors were calibrated listening to The Nightfly and Aja. Another fave for demonstrating phones at NAMM is this obscure cut out:

IMHO the best recordings to test with are:
1. Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd
2. Genesis Duke
3. Yes Big Generator
4. Hendrix Electric Ladyland

Wish You Were Here was no slouch either, IMO

Dayum, BouBou, I started out listening on my Laptop, then put my Sony noise cancelling headphones on and listened as Max W. Kicked that bass drum into slo-mo overdrive. As good as the drums sound on my headphones, I can imagine how the room would shake with a good sound system and sub/woofers going.

He doesn't get much mention nowadays, but when I was growing up and expanding my catalog of favorite artists and bands, Billy Thorpe's Children of the Sun came out. Not only is the title track a killer Stereo/Headphones workout, but numbers like We're Leaving, and Dream Maker are as well.

I just noticed something as I scrolled up to see the other members' posts. Under our screen names and Ambasadors etc, our stats and such are missing here @ 7:17 PM EST USA

I had to do some digging since it has been maybe 35 years since I last played my Record Albums. Sad to say that Billy passed away at 60 years old from a massive heart attack in 2007.

2007: Death

Thorpe suffered from chest pains at his home on 28 February 2007 and was taken by an ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney around 2:00 am AEDT after having a massive heart attack. He remained in the emergency ward in a serious condition and went into cardiac arrest around half an hour later; hospital staff unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate him. His family was by his side when he died at 60 years of age. Thorpe is survived by his wife Lynn, and daughters Rusty and Lauren. His manager Michael Chugg said the death was a "terrible tragedy", as Thorpe had just finished recording a new album Tangier and was very happy after a recent acoustic tour. He was posthumously appointed a Member of the Order of Australia on 11 June 2007, with the citation, "For service to the entertainment industry as a musician, songwriter, producer, and as a contributor to the preservation and collection of contemporary Australian music". In December 2020, Thorpe was listed at number 31 in Rolling Stone Australia's "50 Greatest Australian Artists of All Time" issue.
