Those boards pop out and in pretty easily. With modern lead-free solder I hate that kind of job. You have to rough up the back of the pots and hope the crappy solder sticks. A complete Les Paul pcb can be had for about $40 from guitar ghouls. I know, I know, you must have your old point to point to maximize the sound, otherwise the tonewood faeries won't appear.............but I prefer the basic wiring to a PCB for repairability...
The day everyone has the same plug to play with, then it will be easier. If you must have this brand of plug with this board (ie proprietary items), I am not interested. Also, can the board do split, parallel and series on the same pup on the same board, 50s and standard wiring, push pulls or normal pot, etc? Not as quick and easy as the system ol Roberts looking at from GFS......no soldering needed complete harness is 22.00 and its plug and play with the GFS line of pups....... kinda neat really-----
Could swap out pups and harness in about 10 minutes int he back of a VW bus behind a dive bar in Cleveland on a Sat. night----if ya wanted to.
Amen. The day everyone has the same plug to play with, then it will be easier.
Ya'll need to slow down and take a breath. We're all friends here. poop's getting a little hot & heavy, in some cases literally.
Not necessarily. I think Agile's hold their own with Gibson's costing thousands. Would I trade? Well no, but only because of value, resale and commercial conditioning (which means I am still somewhat of a cork sniffer). But if you invited me to your home and there were a bunch of guitars on the wall, yes, there is a good chance I would grab the Agile before many Gibsons. Or if I knew nothing of brands and I was shopping without reference to $$$, I surmise that that it is very likely that the Agile would be the one to come home with me. Or if you asked me tomgrab a guitar and hotmthe stage for a song, I would very likely grab the Agile because of my experience with their consistent playability out of the boxYou're the only one hung up on price. My only hard line is, Show me the SX, or whatever Rondo brand, guitar that I will trade any of my Gibsons for. You can't and you wouldn't make that trade either. It's just bluster and hyperbole.
My point was that Gibbo has the option in the PCB of the HP LP to switch all kinds of wiring options. 50s included.
Now that is a a nice perk. And if there was a custom shop so that you can design your own options on the PCB, well hey, now we are talking!!!Yuppers!
Just think of it, chil'ren. The PCB could be printed with both modern and '50s wiring on the SAME PCB, and you could select which you wanted. It could have a DIP switch on the PCB that allowed you to switch to your preferred setup. Say you got bored with that? Well, pop the back off, slide some DIP switches and you're in business with your new wiring scheme.
You can still get proper solder. I've got 63/37 in two different gauges.
