Pass Around Guitar Idea...

I'd like to participate but cross border shipping can be really expensive and has the potential to hold up the guitar for a couple of weeks. Usually it goes pretty smooth but every once in a while customs decided to hold onto a shipment for a week or two. In Canada the cheapest is Canada Post but it isn't cheap. There is also the possibility that you will run into Cites problems and be held up. I have shipped a few guitars and the minimum was just under $100. I'm going to pass for this round and see how it goes.
 
It's light and depending on how far you have to ship it...I just shipped a Custom Shop Strat in a Hard Case from California to New York for $74.

The more local pass around/hand off the better. There are at least 4 of us here in SoCal that could hand off in person for $5 or $10 in gas...

Just because some of us are geographically challenged by shipping doesn’t mean those that aren’t shouldn’t do this. I’d love to participate but I also love living where I do. Go for it guys.

Sounds like fun but I was thinking a regional thing for you west coast guys might be more practical, as has been stated.
Pass her around like a (rhetorical) "cheap dirty slut" and each post a pic or better yet pic and a clip.
Adds to the whole guitar pron concept.

Could just do familiar music room backdrop if you dont want face in pic.
I always think I look too much like a lot of the guys in the post office, but I swear it is just coincidence.

I agree with Kerry in that it will cost a fortune to ship to and from us parka-wearing, back bacon eating, moose riding, baby seal hunting boys in the Great White North.

Seriously, shipping and customs fees back and forth will be pricey and restrictive for us.
 
Well it's good to know that 2 members on here live in the same region as me. Maybe we'll hook up some day. I still have a lot of gear packed up and my other guitars at my sister-in-law's place where she also lives in the city of Oshawa. I just don't have a car to drive around but I use the bus quite a bit.

I'm getting this started as soon as I hook up with Don O or getting his address. If it completes a few successful hand offs in the west I'll pay to ship it to Florida if you Florida guys agree to pool some money and ship it back to me.

I don't want to start a pass around with a $1000 guitar...
 
As a side bet, I suggest you / we start a pool on how many shipments said guitar will make before meeting either a catastrophic end or career ending injury.

My thought was to pass around a nice guitar to those who are thinking of buying one. I'd risk a good guitar to the cause of education, hence my interest in a good shipping case.

Don O has the pass around guitar. It may take some time before it gets moving because I gave it to him with work to be done...
