My friend Bert has played his first show with the JCA100HDM, and didn't have to take the cab, he just borrowed one provided as backline (a pretty nice sounding cab, I've used it a lot of times myself). Saved humping that huge Mesa Rectoverb 50 around the place, and I think it cut through better than the Mesa did. I wasn't a fan of the Eminence 1218 in the Mesa either, but it might have just sounded boxy because it wasn't broken in yet. The following videos were taken a week apart, before and after the trade. I was standing next to Bert in the first one, on the other side in the second one, that might have made a difference.

And, yes, Peavey fiends, bassist Aaron is playing a late '90s Millennium with the Hipshot bridge and tuners (including the detuner) and active soapbars

For roughly 27 years, my main amp was a Marshall 2203 with a 2034 8x10 cabinet. In 2014, I downsized - sold the stack - and went back to using my 1997 Marshall Valvestate VS265 2x12 combo.

Then in 2017, I bought a brand new Marshall DSL40C with an eye to downsize once again. The DSL40C was lighter, smaller and easier to transport, but I couldn't get my tone out of it.

I spoke to Trevor English and Vaughan Skow at WGS and they built me a custom Reaper HP: a 12", 16ohm, 50 watt speaker with a 55Hz bass cone, high-temp voice coil, special suspension material, poly dope and a massive Alnico magnet.

Next was a custom tube loadout consisting of a GE12AU7/JJECC83S/JJECC83MG /JJ5751 with no other internal modifications.

Coupled with a TS-9, providing clean boost, it's an incredibly light amp with a HUGE voice. Even at nearly full volume, it's clear and defined without breakup.

A mustang trunk is surely not roomy....
I have no room in one of mine, the TUBS take up the whole trunk:celebrate:

Have big problemo..i been doing a lot more strat action & less heavy songs lately. I found 1974 fender Super Reveb 4x10 , meet is set for tomorrow. Guy just called back & said he has a Vintage Bassman 4x10 also, man these are 2 of the final pieces been looking for. What to do..,.
I would go for the Bassman and wait for a better year Super Reverb.
By '74 they were doing the silver faced master volume ones. Not great.

The only combo that I've owned that didn't need constant attention is a vintage Fender Vibrolux.

Every other combo has needed the tube sockets retensioned constantly. Loose tubes, bad connection etc...

Even my high zoot Marshall Bluesbreaker, no problems though after putting the chassis in a head cab.

NO more combos for me.......no matter how cool- convenient they look. View attachment 26074
I like that orange colored Marshall

I'm not sure how many amps I own.
But only use one most of the time
We just played a fund raiser two other bands used a Line 6 Helix and a AX EFX-3 through the PA system both sounded
fake or sterile not sure what IR patches they were using it was not the guitars top of the line PRS
The guy with the line 6 Helix said he played Mesa amps but all 3 were dead and he want's me to fix them
Sammy played a Fender Blues Deluxe Sam is one of the best players but his amp tone sounds like the oats that have been run
through the horse.
