Good observation, but the spalting in the main body is rather exquisite IMO. The crack on the solid walnut body would always bother me. The rest of this guitar is made from the same slab of walnut, and the back does it justice.

See...that's the thing, different things bother each of us and that patch is a huge turn off to me.

I know you'll turn it into a fantastic guitar!
 
If you paint the whole thing flat black the patchwork won't show.

That is a BEAUTIFUL axe indeed, maybe I am picking at nothing, I would think the string holes would follow the saddle bridge pieces. I admit I do not know all the science behind string and scale length. If the impact of lenght stops at the bridge then it would not matter I guess. Damn that's a gorgeous finish on that guitar.
