NEW SONG IDEAS

LRT and I are working on a new one tonight

I was curious: does anybody else write out their song structures like this? I realize that this probably looks like gibberish to you seasoned veterans of the songwriter wars...but it (said gibberish) makes sense to me, and as long as I know what's going on, I am good to go...but I am also pretty new to this "arrangement" thing...

Thoughts, TTR?

...GO!

The last page look exactly like a bunch of chibberish I have written down..
Uhh....so the last page of legible writing, or the one towards the bottom that my son did? :ROFLMAO:
the one before the bottom

For those wanting or interested in how to start recording with the computer, there are recording bundles.

I got one similar to this one. Just had to get a mic stand.

It works great with the mic, but putting the guitar direct in not so much.
The guitar signal is coming in too hot, even with the level on the interface set off.
I think I just need Behringer Ultra-DI DI400P direct box which offers impedance and signal matching of instruments to the presonus and it will be fine.

I believe @ChasFred just started recording on computer and would be a big help for those interested in this path.

Here's a crappy recording of a song LRT and I are working on. I wanted to make a basic backing track for myself, for the purpose of jammin along with it in order to compose a solo. It's not perfect; there's a major flub in the middle of the damn track, drives me nuts, but what the hell...it's there, but I don't think it will get in the way of writing a lead for it...

That is really great McBlink! I record with my phone if I'm just doing something quick, but I am getting somewhat comfortable with my audio interface into the laptop. I really like my 6i6 interface. Once I got it set up right I don't have any latency issues when laying down additional tracks. You really only need a couple of mic's with cables the interface and headphones with the computer to get the job done. One thing I seem to be finding is that what you hear in the room tends to be too dark recorded. I've got my amp set with almost too much treble and it comes out good on the recording. I don't know if it has something to do with the room, mic placement or if it is just the way it is.

DUUUDDDE besides the killer tone you’re getting, I love what you have done with this piece.
It has a classic/yet new vibe going on. It reminds me of 2 different songs for longevity, not the riffs or melody, but a song that can stand on its own for years , like Lights Out, and Lovedrive, to name a couple in my world. Keep bringing them, you guys have some class.
Now I need to grab at something new ,, lol :beers: :urock::jammer::strat::notes::notes::notes:

Thank you gentlemen....there is one other recording of this same one, but with LRT and I playing it together. It's rough, very rough and it still needs work...my "lead" sucks (hence why I've made the backing track for myself, this horsecrap was all improvised and I was NOT prepared), the recording is dirtier and I think maybe one of us was possibly not tuned, or squeezing the strings too hard at the very beginning, because that part sounds awfully not in tune to me lol...pretty sour...but anyways, here's that recording too:

[EDIT]: After another listen, I think I believe LRT and I have committed the cardinal sin of NOT TUNING PROPERLY before playing. This sounds pretty awful and I am embarrassed LOL! But what the hell. Laugh about it with me. I guess it's documenting the progress in any case...

I can hear the potential this song has:love::dood::cheers::H5:

It needs some work! For one, I need to figure out how to string together some of the licks I'd like to use for the solo...which is where the backing track is handy, I was able to experiment with it for some time this morning at home, and I think I have made some headway. Just gotta keep at it and it'll get there in time.

I am also , but I am hearing another of my influences in it,
A Michael Schenker vibe mixed with Maiden :2Thumbs: :H5: :dood:
I'd be curious to see what you guys might say after I get the solo worked out how I'd like it....there is actually a VERY Maiden-ish run I plan on using in the solo, (among some others), but it doesn't show up in that last clip

Like I said it’s going to be a great
Piece!!!
I can already hear it, the chord changes in what I think is the verse section, just kills !! Thanks for posting this work of you 2 guys , loving the progress!!
Cheers Mitch

I had grand ideas for today
(playing wise) we where going to have a short easy day.
Installing 3/4” plywood on some metal studs, I hate (screwing off)
And as my luck would have it I punched the tip of my screw gun into my left index finger!23272934-5B84-41C8-8129-10C69797750A.jpeg
