So here's a really cool thing that I wanted to share. The drummer I met called this morning. He asked if i'm interested in a project.
A local bar/card room wants to do a radio commercial using "Ace of Spades." The cost to license the original is astronomical. However, its not too expensive to license a cover ver through The Harry Fox Agency.
So, the"job" is creating a cover of "Ace of Spades" for hire. I thought this would be a fun project so I accepted and the timeline is 90 days, so its easy and fun.
The drummer will lay down the drum track and I been fiddling with my bass, watching Lemmy videos and practicing alternate bass picking and also bass chords ala Lemmy.
So, I will track 4 guitar parts, all detuned to Eb.
First track - left channel 100% panned open E is the alternating rhythm and the Dsus4/Csus4 phrases
Second track - right channel 100% panned playing the same rhythm phrasing an octave higher
Third track is the descending lead phrase and the g/b salvo
Final track will be the actual lead centered.
The problem is, we don't (as of yet) have a Lemmy style vocalist, but I have performed this song before - although I can only sing it once a night, so I will knock it out here at home and - 'wurst case scenario' - we have to dig up a singer.
So, that's how the new project came about...
