Looks like some people cant take a joke..:

So. Some years ago had a friend tell me I’d look good playing a Tele. Said, not interested. Today I have a Tele style guitar. Another told me I should be playing a semi-hollow. Jazz box so to speak. Again. Not interested. Today I have a Hagstrom Viking. Personally, I had zero interest in owning a Strat. I now have one. Love it. Only electric I have that no one told me to get is the G400. That one’s all on me. I play all of them. Enjoy playing all of them.

Nice thing is. Like music genres…. There’s a guitar out there that gonna suit a persons style and needs. It’s not a one size fits all. Doesn’t stop us from giving each other grief in jest…. As long as it all stays tongue in cheek and friendly.
Oh definitely, nothing wrong with someone liking teles. All I’m saying is I’m not one of them, and yea I think they look like someone gave up while in the middle of designing a guitar, gave it a cut out just to make the higher notes more accessible and called it a day…

But then again my 7 string has cheesy bat inlays (which… I actually come to really like in a weird way) and my Jackson Dinky has a head stock that looks like it could be a weapon if I took off the tuners. So to each their own

First car I ever had, spent an eternity rebuilding it but was an absolute blast and a monster before I sold it. Bought it with a swapped out 327ci from a 68 Vette with the 2.45in main and a 350 TH Transmission. Put on an Edelbrock 600 4 Barrel and Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, Comp Cam and lifters (.502), a B&M Stall convertor and shift improver kit, Hedman Hugger Headers and Flowmaster Dual Exhaust. Was giving out around 350Hp after all was said and done.

Again, I enjoy all the Detroit muscle companies and dont hate any of them. But, since we've hit the topic? I whipped a couple 5.0 Mustangs' asses ( 87 and 94 models) like they owed me money in this: but hey, it was friends who owned them that challenged me, not the other way around lmao.

I don't get why anyone would hate a Telecaster... they've been in constant production since like 1950.
Lots of great music has been played on them. And they can produce highs, mids and lows just like
any guitar. They can twang if you EQ them that way, but they can also rock. Just use the controls.

I got spoiled by how fine my SGs are, and when I bought my Telecaster I found it difficult to relate to.
So I took it to a pro luthier, and asked them to set it up for me. I thought I knew how, but figured the
pro setup would either make it easier for me to play it, or make it easier to sell. Pro setup was like
night and day. Also, my Tele is happier with one gauge lighter strings than my SG.

Nobody better dis this girl...
...well, I don't really mind anyway. Telecaster purists will sometimes glance at my Tele
and then look away as if the sight of her embarrassed them. So I'm used to that.
I'm all for confounding purists of any stripe. I'm an impure musician for sure.

And if young bucks look at this like, "that's my grandfather's guitar... it only plays
grandfather music..." I coudln't blame them. I used to laugh at old guys when I was
a teen, along with my friends. But that of course is a really dim-bulb attitude.
(like all prejudice... it's deaf dumb and blind)
Because my Tele is just a guitar. It can play any style the owner is capable of.
Old or young.

I have Always found Telecasters very uncomfortable - like wearing a shoe that's too small. They feel like a huge wooden plank under my arm.

Working as a session musician, i think i was required (by producers) to play a Telecaster or Broadcaster more often than any other guitar.

Session work is musical prostitution, so we play what we are paid to play, but i never liked those guitars, i simply tolerated the assignment to support my family.

There’s a fine line between brand bashing in fun and insulting the person that owns said brand. And that line is in a different place for different people.

Yes. That’s the tricky thing about joking.

If you toss out a joke about something that others value, you have to expect a return joke from those affected by your initial joke. The return may take things a step further. Then, there may be a response to that, and so the escalation continues.

It‘s all in fun, of course…until it isn’t.

The irony being, joking can be a serious matter.

I just hate the look of a Tele and the single coil twang. Add HB pickups, is it a Tele? Or a Tele shape? Original Teles are indeed a block of wood, awkward and very cowboy looking, to me. I have played on one here n there. Very nice thin neck, very playable.
But I hate the original design. Heck, the toggle switch in bridge mode almost make adjusting the volume knob hard.
I just dislike them.
As others dislike pointy guitars.

I've ever ran anything but a 4.10 or 4.30 gear in anything.

My 1972 Ford Torino 429 SCJ (our pro build) would still just nick 140mph with a 4.30 gear and 27.0" tires, just a shade under 7,500 rpm.

1/4 mile was 13.80 @ 108mph

My 2006 Mustang also has 4.30's but it has an overdrive in 5th.

And that good sir is the difference between bone stock and performance built. That red Matador with the bone stock 360 and 3.54 rear gear is the only car I’ve owned where I actually ran it as fast as it could go. One night I got it up to somewhere between 6 grand and 6500 and the hydraulic lifters were starting to rattle….. float. And that was it. No faster…. Speedo said I was going about 110.

Here’s how you remedy the switch tip issue…. Which I agree with you. It is in an awkward place. Anyway…. Made my own switch plate and used a switch originally ordered for my G400 and never installed.
