I guess I missed the chapter in the self-help books where it suggested I consume more Black Sabbath for
a productive, happy life. Perhaps I skimmed over. My wife has a rule, you are what you eat. I don't agree it's
entirely true, but there's some seeds of truth there.

Now, I also can't say I'm entirely knowledgeable about Sabbath. I listened through the whole 70's catalog and
more a number of years back when I had a BS inspired strap order, and I will say I was pleasantly
surprised. But I've only gone back for the RJD stuff that I felt was far superior to the earlier recordings.
I know Sabbath purists won't agree. It's a Roth/Hagar, Bon/Brian sort of thing I think, but I just didn't get it.
Maybe I just don't care for Ozzy, it's probably coloring my whole perception.

Thinking about it even harder, I lean more towards Zep anyway. There's just more joy. Thank You,
Celebration Day, even Good Times, Bad Times, has some joy... when he still don't seem to care....
Sabbath has no Kashmir, no Going to California, no Fool in the Rain, Rain Song, or Ramble On.
They possibly have an Immigrant song, a Black Dog, Gallow's Pole maybe almost a Stairway in that period?

Your vote is changeable though @Clockworkmike - there's still time to change the road you're on

I have to give this one to the Hammer of the Gods, for two reasons: one, that Page was a terrific arranger and idea man (even if their greatest ass-kicking riff was written by Jones), and two, I’d just rather listen to Zep.

While it's plain that Pagey did a little more than "borrow" some ideas, and he and Bonzo were half in the bag for much of Zeppelin's time, they had Peter Grant, AND The Starship!

Black Sabbath had too much angry sad music, and plodding riffage that would scare off all but witch chicks.

Desert island rule. Two months of pure Sabbath, I've got crazy eyes, am famished and making a vine rope to hang myself from a coconut tree. Two months of Zep, I've built a shelter, spearfishing, have a pen of wild chickens, and am enjoying fermented coconut milk (responsibly). Planes fly over, and I hide so they can't find me.
One knows when there is the journalist on board. That is FOR sure. I imagine you haven't lost a step. :giggle:

For me Ozzy is Sabbath, age old argument. I like Dio’s work but when he sings the older stuff I just don’t like it.

Ozzy didn’t have the vocal style of Dio but when he sings these songs they take on a powerful stance. For instance “Black Sabbath” Even his own work later on.
I like the way he molds the songs, it just works.

I've decided not to vote in the final round.

Although I have enjoyed participating in the elimination rounds, I'm not really emotionally tied to either band. I think it's best that I leave the final round to those who are. Since voting results aren't visible on this round to those who haven't voted, I'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see who takes the title.

So, you’re open to bribes ? :rolf:

So... we can put you down for a Sabbath vote?

"plodding riffage that would scare off all but witch chicks."
You possess an undeniable hilarious "gift for words".
My brother in law (lover of all music genres) and my nephew (his son, HUGE fan of all things heavy metal, especially Metallica) lead to all sorts of interesting conversations about music whenever we get together.
I'm committing to memory...your words, and I plan to use 'em on my nephew the next time he goes all heavy metal on me. I'll use your words to see if I can get a rise out of him, but it probably won't work on my nephew because he's also a HUGE fan of Southern Rock music. Skynrd, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker Band, Atlanta Rythym Section, and of course, The Allman Brothers Band.
Slice it, dice it, however you may wish, but, in my mind, there are 3 distinct winners here amongst the bands that were winners.
Best Canadian Band: Rush
Best European Band: Pink Floyd
Best American Band: ZZ TOP
