Jensen speakers? Or possibly others...

I have a Jensen C12N in the checkout basket, to replace the Celestion Seventy 80. Is thete any reason (other than weight) to go for the Jensen N12K instead?

Size (depth) is an issue here.
Overall I don't like Jensen speakers.
I would rather use Celestion or EV.
The Jensen sounds weak and farty to me. Over years of time I found the Jensen to be very inefficient compared to other speakers...

Now you got this company in Italy making "Jensen" speakers, but they don't seem to be anything like Jensen speakers that I have used for most of my life.
Also called "MOD" speakers....
These speakers really don't resemble any Jensen speaker that I know of.
But rather, an entirely different speaker with the "Jensen" label stuck on it.

I would put Jensen at the bottom of the list, and buy a professional speaker instead.

I took the back off to measure it. I have exactly 5mm clearances between the Seventy 80 and the chassis. That tules out pretty much every speaker except the one that is already in there and the Neo V-type. Even the Jensens are out.

Make a new baffle board so you can front load / move position of the speaker.
This will get more clearance.
If the speaker goes in from the front you will gain 19mm (3/4 inch) of clearance right from the start.

Won't I get more trebles from a front liaded speaker though? That's what I don't want.

Bell cover:
some speakers have a cover over the magnet which can be removed to make more clearance.
Yeah but they tend to be so deep anyway that the removal of the bell cover doesn't make any practical difference in my case.

So now... If I was to make a new baffle there's a chance I could fit my Celestion Gold in there, if I remove the bell cover. That means I could get a higher powered speaker for the other cabinet so I could utilize all 200 watts of the Quilter. Not that I'd ever need it.

This whole thread truly sounds to me like a good excuse to just buy a different amp.......or a Jenson loaded cab and run the current amp like a head........or both speakers like a half stack.......
