I've been banned from the Marshall Forum...

Absolutely. Billy Gibbons recorded a fair part of Eliminator (if I recall correctly, may have been Tres Hombres) using an amp with only one of the output valves working. John Lennon skipped the 'amp nonsense' and went straight into the mixing desk to record the opening riff for Revolution. Zep's Whole Lotta Love was recorded using a solid state VOX for Jimmy's guitar. Good players can make poor equipment sound good, good equipment can't make crap players sound good.

Billy used a Lead 12 SS on a few songs too. They actually sound remarkably good with a decent speaker.

It's the player that makes the amp, not the amp that makes the player.
For me I fail at both. My kid can sit down. Plug one of my guitars into the amp. Sounds amazing. I take the same guitar..... same amp..... same settings.... still sound like crap. Oh well. Keep telling myself I'm having fun and since I'm the only one I really need to impress... It's all good.

You're just fine! I feel so humiliated after every session no one else but me was present.

Hearing that Fitz and Timo were banned was quite surprising, since I can't think of two people less likely to get banned based on what I've seen them post. But reading here Ken Underwood was banned is a bit incomprehensible. I did a search of his name last light on the MF and it didn't come up as banned, so maybe it was temporary. The MF won't come up for me at the moment, and I get a "problem loading page" error, so maybe they've banned themselves from the internet.

Regarding Pat Rocks, I actually enjoyed his threads. And considering all of the abuse he took (albeit maybe self induced), I never saw him respond in an unkind manner to anyone. Nice to see a lot of MF members here, including Mitch Pearrow. Would be nice to see some others like Tatzman and Alvin. I'm not a high content poster, but I read these forums every day.

Does't Alvin use them from time to time, too? I know he has the 20's and swears by them. Another example of a great player making the amp, though.
He uses a 5010 too. I have the Marshall lead 12 and the 5010. When I got sick and hung it up playing out I sold my 1974x and my 1974 4 hole 50 watt head.

Yes I'm kicking myself. But the lead 12 and 5010 are fine for around the house. I do have a modded Victoria 5112 that is great for
around the house. So I don't miss the old Marshall as much.

I know who has the 50 watt head. I bought it from him in the first place. Every once in a while I try to work out a way to get it back. But
he bought it new in 1974 so I understand that he does not want to let it go a second time.

Moderators acts were insulting, and very much against what I believe is just, and that's all I'm going to say.

Timo

Timo

I saw your whitewash post before it disappeared, and was surprised when it vanished. But then I assumed that one of the new VS stooges did it, because under normal circumstances Cross or Dogs would have been straightforward with everyone about what was up-not deleting posts and banning people.

I don't really want to go into this, but for the record:

What happened was that there was a discussion, obviously in a downward spiral, about the site look/feel/layout. So far, fair game. Then Ken came along and indeed relatively politely stated that he didn't care for it and would likely not be returning. Cross basically pointed out that Ken - while considered a VIP - wasn't actually part of the "Marshall OG crew". He was invited to be part of it but saw no future in it and pursued a different career. Needless to say, he has regretted this eventually - it was a missed opportunity. Cross then said - not quite word for word - that Ken had made his bed and must lay on it, but he wasn't going to make the MF's bed.

This isn't my opinion, it's just roughly what happened. I'm not sure if Ken was banned, I don't think so. I did try to send him a private message but he has the feature disabled apparently.

While I'll concur that Jim (RIP) wasn't exactly 'verbatim' when it came to the exact course of events here and there and his son, Terry, has tried to paint a totally different picture at times. Ken Underwood wasn't really all that involved in the 'engineering' of the JTM45. That was Dudley Craven and Ken Bran, mostly. They made a couple of goofs when cloning the Bassman as one would expect given that they were both very young and inexperienced in that field. I mean no disrepect to any of the parties involved, this is my interpretation of the events.

I saw that, too, and commented on it. I believe my post may still be there asking just what was going on. It wasn't Cross' finest hour, let's say.

'The Fog of War'. I'm not certain what happened. Suddenly the moderation acted what I think was *not* right, and after that, all went down to Hell. Anyway, see you tomorrow, I'm er... intoxicated. I make my own booze, and it's just too good!

It is possible that Cross is just as unhappy with the changes as the rest of us and is just trying to not anger his new bosses. We don’t know what they have been told about how things are to be run, if they were told anything at all.

What we do know is that MF was acquired along with a few other forums that were all under the same prior ownership, so VS is probably adopting a cookie cutter approach to the whole group and likely doesn’t care one bit if a few dozen people on one of the smaller sites don’t like things. We’re nothing to them. Kinda like when Samsung bought Harmon and immediately killed Digitech/DOD.
