We're entering week three of lockdown here. While most shops are still open, people are staying at home as much as possible, and there are noticeably less people outside these days. It is getting pretty boring, but we've used the time to do a few things around the house that we've been putting off for a long time.
One of those things was getting rid of the bunk beds both my boys have had in their rooms. They were bulky, and their rooms are fairly small, so in order to give them more sense of space, we decided to pull out the lower bed in both rooms and just use the upper bunk as a regular bed. The question then was what to do with the bunks we were to get rid of. Selling or giving them away them was out of the question, because they just don't work well as single beds. My first idea was to use them for firewood, but then I figured I'd rather turn them into something useful and ave some fun while doing it. I'm no carpenter, but here's what I did.
I made a bench for the garden out of the first one:

And then a work table for potting, cutting roots etc. for the garden, from the second bed.

Now I just need to plug a few holes (I'll be using the plugs that held the bed together as dowels) and stain them to make them fit for life outside. I'm certainly no carpenter, but both the bench and table are sturdy as hell, so I must have done something right. We were planning on buying both a bench and a work table, so I saved a pretty penny doing this as well.
How do you guys spend your time (except for guitar-related business) these days?
