Dunlop John Petrucci jazz picks ......... 1.5mm thick you will break the string before you break the pick
Use Duncan nylon picks that wont happen.
Dear Robert.Honestly, I feel like I want to do something that I really want to do. I've been supporting 3 bands, plus my full-time studio recording/voice over work. I worked continuously for 7 years and we never missed a day, even during the pandemic (things never stopped, they just went underground) so I'm ready for a little slower pace...
In a whole 3 hr show I will go through a few. I use the 346 triangular heavy Fender White so I can see em when I drop em. Some get chucked to audience, of course! I get 3 corners to work with! I get white powder on mine too. I strum hard and dig in, I guess. The red dust looks cool on the yellow! Here's a shot of YelloStrat this morning and what a brand new Fender medium pick looks like after one show.
First time in a very long time that I didn't break the pick!!!!

Usually, I break at least one pick like this during a performance:

Follow your heart mate. We only get one kick at this can, and you are the pilot.
Be well and enjoy every day no matter what you do.
