How Much Would Spend on Concert Tickets Today ?

I remember tickets in the $15 range.
Ozzy Ozbourne Blizzard was about $25 for 4th in Long Beach.
What would you pay today ?
Yesterday I bought tickets to a show 900 miles away. So we decided not to drive. I would drive it. It’s about 15 hours roughly or slightly less.
So now, it’s a flight , a hotel and a car.
Sounds like bad idea now.

Not a damn cent. I will not give LiveNation or TicketMaster one damn cent. And I have three venues within walking distance of my home that have national acts I would love to see.

I will go to the occasional local show at one of the bars around town though.

It depends on the venue and bands playing. I go to shows all the time, but avoid big concerts like the Who at Fenway Park a couple of weeks ago.

But, last week I saw three great bands, Kind, Duel, and Birman Wood for $15.94 (with the service fee of .94) at a nice brewery. Thatbastarddon met me there for the show.

Sunday night I saw Duane Betts and Palmetto Hotel with a local band Wood and Bone opening at a nice venue in Gloucester. Total cash outlay was about $41.00.

Friday I’m going to see local legend John Hvorka for The Turbines and 2x4’s along with Bob Censi of Jerry’s Kids and another local band Huck. That’ll probably be $20 cash at the door.

Then Saturday night is Bim Skala Bim at the Cut in Glostah again. Twice in one week. I think tickets were around $30.

Plenty of great live music to be had around here. And, you don’t need to spend a ton of cash.

In the last few years we’ve spent $70 - $80 on tickets to see some exceptional performers at a really sweet venue just five minutes down the road. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band and Ben Folds put on two of the best performances I’ve ever seen in my life, and were 100% free of backing tracks. But we’re at an age (almost 70) where I don’t suppose we’ll be seeing many shows anymore.

Last shows we attended were in the 90s. Moody Blues. Yes. ELP. Jethro Tull. Heart. Of course living in Illinois. REO Speedwagon several times…… but they were primarily in the 80s. Add in CSN and Neil Young a couple times. We did take in some decent groups. But haven’t taken in a show since moving to NE Illinois in 2002.

We have attended several Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra concerts because we had grandkids playing in the orchestra.

There are those who are gone now, we should never forget the greatest moments in musical history. Many of you have said those times are past and has indeed been a very long time but no one can say when I’m ready to stop going to shows. My call. The couch is not motivational device.lol
