How many retirees do we have here on TTR

Lol true I suppose. Don't feel any younger and these damn 20 year olds I work with call me ancient all the time. Thanks pals lmao
Funny stuff. Few years back I was listening to the radio at work. Springsteens birthday was that day. I think he was turning 67 or 68. Made a comment about when did he get that old….. then said….. “oh wait. That’s me in 5 years.” The 20 something standing at the parts counter said…. “You’re not that old.” Asked him how old he thought I was. He wouldn’t say. Just said…. “Well you don’t act like it!” Nope. Sure don’t. And won’t. Even at 68 today, I’m too young to be old…. At least in my head. Just don’t ask the body. :pound-hand:

@Clockworkmike
Wait till they call ya gramps .
Because they still don’t know how to do the task at hand , ha ha
or the guys you thought were older than you, are really younger..

Cheers
Aging isn’t always fair. Sometimes genetic. Sometimes work. Sometimes lifestyle. We were still in our early 40s. Pointed a guy out to my wife and told her he’s a HS classmate of mine. He looked 10+ years older than the rest of my classmates (ok… as in looked older than me specifically). Several years later at our 40th class reunion. He still looked the same. The rest of us had caught up.

Lol we we're working inside a Federal Prison about 8 years ago and I had a helper who was about 7-8 years younger than me but he looked at LEAST 10 years older than I did. We were running conduit in a cell and my helper asked if he could bend it, to get some practice in. A couple inmates walked by and saw us and began yelling at me, saying " You oughta be ashamed of yourself! Young guy like you making that poor old fella do all your work!!!"

I didn't even laugh or smile, just kept a straight face and said " Man I know....it's awful how lazy we are. I'm just having him show me what to do since he's been doing this for decades". Helper didn't like the joke lmao

Should of been done by now (58)but life has ways of changing. 3 years 9 months till company main territory sells to my long time worker.. Will be done then at 62 but going to keep my local territory & run some close to home calls until i see how it all goes for a bit.

Soon as i am done absolutely going to restore a car a year & perpetuate the car game. The research-parts chasing-work is such a way to keep the enthusiasm & physical life with always something to do

Right now I'm thinking 65 will be it for me, but things like health and what the world will allow will be the determining factor if I retire earlier or later.

Man, I can't believe I'm thinking retirement. Feels like not that long ago all I could think about was career ambitions.

I am 65 retired but
I'm doing whatever to go back to work. I don't like being retired, I wanna work to make new things.
There's a lot I wanna do. And so I will not remain retired.....doubtful.

Good for you, get back to it, Since I have been retired I am busier now, than I was working. Now I have the time to do new things..

I figure I'm about 1/4 retired, a bit of a working life ramp down.
Still at it most everyday, 6 days a week mostly, like a 30 hour week with no commute or boardroom BS. Self-employed, making half what I used to, but at least 50% happier. I hope to maintain, even grow the brand a little bit for the next 5 years, then maybe ramp down yet another 1/4 step and maintain that as long as I can... a fellow needs a reason to keep getting out of bed! Who knows? I'm not over-planning.

Lately I see guys my age (56), a little younger, a little older with sudden health issues, or flat out dying, mental health monsters appearing, divorce or company downsizing ordeals... life sure has a way of sending curveballs at us, we try to be ready for whatever might come
