HNUGMEU Day!

I was prowling around the local KIJIJI website yesterday. That’s kinda like Craigslist for those that don’t know.

I came upon a used Headrush FRFR-108 powered speaker. That is a 8” plus tweeter, full range, flat response powered speaker that can deliver 1000W program or 2000W peak, in a package that weighs 20 pounds.

Well, of course I bought it! It is the very thing I need to complete my digital rig. I am going down to the basement to hook everything up and give it a proper run through.

I will report back when my ears stop ringing!

HNSD.

I thinking of order a Headrush-FRFR-108 or a FRFR-112 to my headrush Gigboard, please report back after you have test it.

CHEERS

One question for the pros here.

I will be going from the ZOOM G3Xn “modeller” into the Headrush FRFR. Since I am new to the whole amp modelling thing, I suspect that I should be turning OFF the mic function of each patch I’m using. Is that correct since I am not going into the PA?

Try it but since speaker is FRFR it may be ok to use a mic amd cab sim setting. See what you like best.

Ive never run into a PA ..... when I run the ampero into a "real" amp I dump the mic and the cab.
A couple pedals in fromt of the "amp" and the "amp" into the efx loop of the amp....

But again no PA experience

There is no right or wrong. Let your ears decide.

Congrats on the new gear!

Ok. Here are my impressions after jam night last night.

The ZOOM G3Xn sounded great! I will have to make some tweaks to the patches I created but overall it was very usable. The acoustic patches sounded exceptionally good with my piezo equipped PRS SE Hollowbody II. The output of the ZOOM was fed into my recently acquired Headrush FRFR-108. The Headrush is rated at 1000W program (2000W peak). Band volume is NOT an issue! It was able to give a reasonably good thump when chugging on an E chord in standard tuning. It does not have the thump or move air like a 1x12 or 2x12 guitar cab can but, hey, isn't that the job of the Bass player anyway? ;) Our rendition of "Hells Bells" sounded pretty great, at least to my ears! :jammer:

I think this is a very good rehearsal and/or gig rig. The best part was that my cables, Zoom unit and Headrush weigh about 30 pounds in total!

Update: I started to have issues with my used ZOOM unit. After maybe 45 minutes to an hour on constant use, the volume would drop off significantly. At first I thought that I had done something wrong but it happened on a continual basis.

Even though it was “used” gear, since I bought it at Canada’s largest music retailer, there was a 30 day return policy. I returned the unit yesterday hoping to get my money back so I could start scouring the used gear ads for a new unit.

Wouldn’t you know it, though! The music store offered to give me a deal on a new modeller. I ended up purchasing a HeadRush Gigboard.

I had seen the reviews of this thing but, damn, it really is awesome and simple to use! That is a good thing as I have the attention span of a gnat!

I have Headrush Gigboard, a fantastic unit and easy to use.
No computer involved for building patches, only for downloading IR:s

Have fun and congrats

Cheers

This speaker sounds awesome

Here is a quick video done by our own Leedspool of me demoing the HeadRush Gigboard to him at our jam night:

Agreed about the chain.... the way you set the pedals can be very different in the digital realm (as will often be the knob settings on any given amp/pedal/effect)

I really enjoyed the NUX Mg300 and was smitten with digital from the Fender Mustang and VOX Vt series combos --- the versatility and options of tone available for the $ was just too much for a "thrifty" ferengi (aka cheap ol bastard) to pass up!!!
Ive now moved from them and those to the AMpero by Hotone .... which Ive rather "topped out " at I believe... The availability of quality great sounding tones and options is very entertaining -- and as is OBVIOUSLY the case (look there imagine that -- hold on to your knickers tube only devotees) it "works in a mix" eh?!

PROCESS ON @ninjaking67 PROCESS ON INDEED!!!!!
