Happy New Used Guitar Multi-Effects Unit day! Yeah, I know! That sounds stupid!

I decided to delve into the modelling world again. No, not on a fashion runway in Milan! I’m talking amp modelling, on the cheap.

I picked up a used ZOOM G3xn at my local Long and McQuade. That is Canada’s version of Sam Ash for you non-Canucks. Got it for $200. That’s about 8 bucks US..............Just kidding!

Anyway, I tried it out at our Wednesday night jam night. I only used some of the 75 factory preset patches but the ones I used sounded pretty decent. I’m already more impressed than I was with the Line6 POD HX300 I previously tried.

Now it’s time to learn how to make my own patches!

Excellent! I have a Zoom G3n without the pedal part.
I never use the included patches.
Some are so I can go from Chorus to Flanger etc so I put them in the same patch but they aren't used together. Just easy to sort the effects that way that I use most.
Short delay and long delay on another etc.
I have one with acoustic sim, chorus amd long reverb that come on together. That sounds really nice for acoustic sounding things.
Really nice sounding and easy to use live.
Congrats on that unit!! Great choice!!

I downloaded the ZOOM software to my computer this afternoon and was then able to update the firmware on the G3Xn itself. That resulted in a whole bunch more effects, amps and cabs that were not available in the original release. This should keep me busy for a week or ten!
I shoild update mine amd see what comes up! They have an old ADA jet tupe flanger but I would like a Boss flanger.

I was prowling around the local KIJIJI website yesterday. That’s kinda like Craigslist for those that don’t know.

I came upon a used Headrush FRFR-108 powered speaker. That is a 8” plus tweeter, full range, flat response powered speaker that can deliver 1000W program or 2000W peak, in a package that weighs 20 pounds.

Well, of course I bought it! It is the very thing I need to complete my digital rig. I am going down to the basement to hook everything up and give it a proper run through.

I will report back when my ears stop ringing!
