First of all, congrats!

As for the '50s wiring, as always, you should feel free to experiment, but I've tried it on my guitars, and ended up going back to the modern wiring.

I totally get what it's supposed to do. But, the result of losing volume by turning down the tone control got really irritating.

Yeah, I really dislike grandpa's wiring scheme. There's a reason they changed it and didn't go back is all I'm sayin'.

Another question for the Pro’s
Do you have locking tuners?
This one comes with grover 18-1 but not locking
Curiosity is killing the cat!

The one and only benefit is quicker string changes. Other than that there is really no reason to switch them out.

I have locking tuners on a couple of guitars. I do like the convenience with string changes. But, I have noticed with Kluson locking tuners, which I used to have on my SG, that you have to be careful how tightly you clamp down the string. I’ve actually had them weaken the string at the tuning peg to the point where the string will break simply with tuning and detuning the string. Now, this may be just a bad set of tuners. I don’t have that issue with the Fender locking tuners on my Strat.

I can agree with this. I probably wouldn’t change them out just for the sake of changing. And for my Frankentele, the neck I purchased came without tuners, so I figured what the heck.

But overall. I have no issues with my other guitars without locking tuners. I don’t gig. I don’t break strings. And I don’t replace them as often as I probably should.
