Yes. No difference. I tested it myself. 2 springs, 3, 4 & 5, angled claw in both directions...no change. Still returned to pitch every time.
Thanks!
Honestly, that’s what I would have expected.

Those electronics don't look very CS if that implies Custom Shop...the 5 way switch looks like something out of a Squier...
Hopefully Don O can explain some historical details, but... I don't think that is even the original pickguard. I see a bunch of shreds of pickguard material all over the covered part of the body. Notice the twin holes for the pickguard by the tone pot area? The aluminum foil shielding attempt looks very amateurish, too.The professionalism ,or lack thereof, of the Fender employee who wrote that (if it came like that from factory), is appalling to me.
Especially so on a $$$ custom shop guitar.
But if the Original owner put it there as it reflects his experience, I'm ok with that.

Me too...but I had to verify it myself.
Totally agree. I was contemplating tweaking on the claw angle in my Strat just to see for myself.
Now, I don’t have to!
It’s a 1988 CS Strat with a SE serial number that I bought around 1998. So I’m guessing some previous owner or a guitar tech was pissed with it. The aluminum foil job is so, so, I don’t see a direct ground connection.
Robert, that is a locking nut.
I too saw the second pick guard holes and had a WTF thought. Who changes a CS pup setup
The fret board cleaned up well, but I think it needs some fret work, maybe new frets. I’ll see if I can post some close ups and get an opinion. I’m also thinking now of a new pick guard setup. I’ll be desoldering this one next weekend and getting a better look.
thats where I was heading...They can be leveled and crowned.
Why do you think a re-fret is in order- deep wear, or deep dents?
Isn’t that a Wilkinson roller nut? That’s what Fender used when they soured on the LSR roller nut for a while.

My bad...Crap, now I gotta go upstairs and look at it closely and report back.
This is always a better choice if there's enough meat. They can be leveled and crowned.
That looks really cool! Does it work well?Isn’t that a Wilkinson roller nut? That’s what Fender used when they soured on the LSR roller nut for a while.

About as well as the LSR units...from what I remember...I played a couple, but never owned one. That looks really cool! Does it work well?
I have some small dents in a couple of the older used cheap guitars I have in the lower 3-4 frets that dont make for any playability issues.Dents in 2 frets, and what seems like wear. I’ll post some pics.
