Friedman Amplifier Customer Service

He ( Dave Friedman ) is for me, one of the few builders that I like what he does with the preamp. All my amps have big, open clean in the preamp. ( I call it juicy clean ) Even when I use a pedal, I try to compare it to the pedal being off. Most times it’s a reduction in sound and so I adjust the pedal....keep working on it. My Blackstar Artisan 100s easily rival my 1968 100 watt plexi. Most folks want the amp to do something for them...especially in the preamp. I just like it to sound big, warm and open...after that I can do whatever I want.

Would love to hear about that Flying V ...I love Albert King.

I'm a big Albert King fan the last time I seen him live was 32 years ago changed my DNA.
The 1958 Flying V my band doesn't know I own that guitar.
Mark our other guitarist owns 3 Friedman amps now he's playing one of my Dumble clones ODS-100 low plate skyline EQ EVM12-L.
I play a Dumble ODS-50 based amp different values than HAD used 1968 Marshall OPT EVM12-S speaker GEC-KT77 power tubes
hands down my favorite guitar amp in the world.

One of my friends has a 58 Flying V and broke the headstock...yuck.
They have a very distinctive sound. I recently viewed an old Bad Co video and there was a vintage V on “Feel like making love” ...sounds just like a 58 V. The chorus especially.
Who made the D style amp clone ? Seems that you’re saying you have one that Mr. D made. I own a Glaswerks Sod 2, the only amp that I own that has channel switching and a hot rod preamp. My hands down favorite is a JMJ 30 ...last guy that got one was on the builders waiting list for 12 years. He reviewed it on TGP. I have around 25 amps from the 50s til now. I loves amps.
I don’t bash stuff that has become expensive since I own stuff that has become expensive. Supply and demand.

No, the BE deluxe is a pedal.I like to run it into a Blackstar Artisan 30 or 100...the hand wired ones. I’d like to own a few of their amps but I have a ton of amps as it is. In the neighborhood of 25 of the best sounding amps from the late 50s til now. I love the FEEL of warm, open sound. My favorite amp is a JMJ 30...last guy that got one waited 12 years on the builders’ list. You can read what he wrote on TGP
I'm hip, thought you meant the amp.

I use the BE-OD Deluxe with my Origin, my poor mans version of the Friedman.

Now when I use the BE with my JTM45, it ain't the poor mans version of anything! It'll light your curtains on fire.

I feel the same way..,the BE deluxe into the Blackstar Artisans sounds amazing. Dave Friedman knows preamps and power tubes but if you have a good sounding amp, try one of his pedals. My favorite sleeper pedal is the Blackstar HT drive. It has a tube and sounds awesome. Has that smoldering Jimmy Page sound on the early albums. I also love the “light your curtains in fire” comment. By “Origin” is that one of the new Marshall’s ?

Is that the JTM 45 ? Very nice, what year was yours made? It looks preowned. ;)
I have a 1968 100 plexi but not much of a Marshall aficionado. I love vintage stuff and new stuff. If it sounds big, warm and wonderful I want one ( or two or three )

Back in the day, we didn’t have the internet.

Yup, that's my 45.

Manufacture date 2005.

I was at a Guitar Denter one evening, some guy came in to try to sell it to GC, they low balled him big time. It has been modded for KT66 tubes, filter caps etc.. They offered him $300? Lol

I chased him down in the parking lot, got the story on the amp, he needed to make rent and paid him cash. I even gave him thirty days to repurchase, he loved that amp.

The cab was trashed so I had Sourmash make me a new headbox and 2x12 speaker cab, Because......................... I like the color Orange Lol.

That amp only goes if my kids are hungry, otherwise it's for life.

I built the amps and the cabinets the key is the transformers. I do own a real Dumble HRM-100 EL34 combo my wife gave me not the best sounding amp.
My builds are tuned to my playing style so far I've built 151 amps. I sold off most of my vintage amp collection still have some Tweed and Brown Face Fenders
a few Plexi Marshall's and others. I do love harmonic generator amps.

The trannies in my 45 are Axiom?

I know my tech noted the PT and OT had been upgraded, he said to the trannies he would have recommended.

Nice gear there brother Plexi, nice indeed!

Great story. I had a similar experience at GC but didn’t buy the amp, should have though. Thanks for responding

Cool info ...I’m an absolute civilian but always paid attention to the transformers. I feel vindicated. Are you in the states ?

I gave him what I had in cash on me, $700
He was overjoyed, construction dude needed to make rent. Family man.

He put so much work into that amp, almost in tears.

Gave him my number and 30 days for the buy back. I felt really badly for the guy.

But it's permanently in my collection.

Dont blame you a bit! $700 on hand, in person isnt a rip off by any means, especially if the guy was in a pinch. Certainly got a better deal than GC was offering! Always sucks being forced to part with something you really dont want to, but you offering a 30 day buyback was more than most people would have even toyed a notion to.

How you like the KT66s?
