I'm an odd duck.
What's odd is that it took from 1988 until 2005 for you to decide the Strat wasn't for you...that's like a long marriage and a messy divorce! But, you found true love...
Where as I just started dating 4 years ago and was trying all the girls out and decided on the long legged one with a tight "G" String...
Back then, times were not easy. I was lucky to have my cheap Squirecaster, but I never bonded with it...ever
Now that's the one thing I think Leo did right....Having no bridge tone control was a mistake, IMHO.
Not really...while I find the body shape very comfortable, the thin necks, longer scale and single coils just don't feel or sound right to me.
Now, I did produce a few Strat-esque guitars, with 24.75" scale, 12" radius fretboard with thick, 1958 Les Paul style necks and twin humbuckers, but even then, it didn't sound or feel as familiar as my Gibson's.
For me, nothing feels or sounds as good as a fat-neck Gibson with (good) Gibson pickups. When I pick up a guitar, I want the familiarity of a well worn shoe, not something that feels foreign and unnatural...and I don't like that higher frequency tone/twang effect the longer scale produces.
Make sense???
So...my attempt at therapy failed.
Ah well...
I guess some labors of love just never pan out.![]()
The Delta Tone fixed that.
Wow! That's like a bad marriage with Kids conceived on the first date...

or not -- but its a great sounding guitar![]()
I see why you posted this video. Regardless of what one may think of him, he makes some very good points. Cheers
the SC sized HB are a great idea and add a ton more config. choices.
I dont hate any type of guitar; I appreciate what works for someone else may not be for me.
I'm getting itch for a Banjo again too.
When Burt Reynolds passed or anytime I am reminded of Burt, I automatically think of Deliverance, and the Banjo boys, then Dukes of Hazzard and Catherine Bach's shorts.
Sometimes I just skip right to Cathy's shorts.
Ayy Yaie Yaie.
"Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home
Oh well oh well oh well"
You know if you ever played a banjo that it is an art on it own.
Played a buddy's ganjo (aka bantar ?) a few times. Cool instrument in the right application. Cheers
Working a deal for a FLoyd Smitty...........and its from Tampa----ishSo, umm, Adrian?
