Ever had an unfortunate accident with your guitar

Well a couple of years ago my buddy and I were sitting around my campfire playing for a small group of friends. Everyone was having a good time, but there was a Woman who was having a really good time if you know what I mean. Well we continued playing then a little while in between songs my buddy laid down his Fender acoustic beside him on top of his case. Well this Woman got up from her chair and approached my buddy she went to hop up on his lap when we heard this enormous crunch. She stepped on his fender acoustic snapping the neck right off. There was a big silence my buddy and I just looked at each other and he said to me that puts a damper on things. Wow I was speechless I felt so bad for him. The woman's husband got up took his wife and went home. That's not the end of it they never even offered to pay for it. Can you believe that! If that had of been me do that there would have been an apology plus a check right away. My buddy used to hang around with them at the campground. Since this happening they no longer do. Til this day they have never seen a dime from these people. Its hard to believe.

Tachs pretty high up on the Jerk Hole -O-Meter.
Sounds like an interesting case for Judge Judy.
reminds me of this:

The only unfortunate thing to happen to my guitars is to have met me.

That sux for sure, I've been lucky so far unless you count burning flesh when soldering pups.....
I hate when that happens!

What we have here, is a Lack of Integrity... :bash:

Worst thing I ever did was with my old '77 Custom, I think in about 1984. We'd just finished our set and I laid the guitar in its case but left the lid open. I walked to the front of the stage for something with the strap still in my hand and when I went to do something else I tossed the strap toward the guitar figuring it would just land near the case, but instead it landed right on top of the guitar in the open case and the straplock (Dunlop) took a gigantic gouge out of the top of the guitar on the upper bout. It was the first really gnarly mark I had gotten on the guitar so it really bummed me out (although I did end up playing the finish pretty much off that guitar eventually). It was so deep I could feel it on my right arm when I played it.

Actually I scuffed the finish on both sides of the SX SSO opening up the trem cavity. The router base has some burrs on it.

Nope.
Lucky so far.
also,
I do not use guitar stands or leave
them out or hang them on the wall.
"In my hands or in the case."
and
No stranger ever touches them.

Pretty much what I do.

Except that I will use a guitar stand on occasion, especially on stage after I finish soundcheck. It's common here that the house will ask you to store the cases out of sight so the stage won't look messy. But I only place the guitar on it after EVERYONe has left the stage and I'm the first to step back on when we're about to start the gig.

Yup. Years ago, my 1974 SG was on one of those flimsy guitar stands that holds three guitars. Somehow, the guitar stand fell over and the guitar fell flat on the stage and snapped the headstock off.

I fixed the headstock and use the guitar to this day.

So my Gibson R0 was on a stand and fell straight forward. It bounced off the hardwood floor due to the spring effect of the pick guard and then landed on the rug. The only damage was a broken knob. Could you imagine, a historic LP headstock survived a fall. Love that guitar

I've been really lucky so far.
Aside from an occasional tool slip, my guitars have seen no "accidental" harm.
